CMX4GX3M2A1600C7 and ASUS Striker II NSE

Hi,

I bought 4 sticks of this model and installed them on the ASUS Striker II NSE motherboard. Well, I have some problems with that...

The DIMMs' speed is 1600MHz, but the mobo can only support 1333MHz, though it can reach 1600MHz by overclocking. Whenever I try to set the memory to 1600MHz and 7-8-7-20 timings the computer won't work and then I have to press the restart button. After restarting it goes back to 1333MHz automatically, as well as sets the timings to 9-9-9-24, which is wrong because they are 7-8-7-20. After another restart, even before the Windows loads, it changes back to my timings settings, but keeps the memory at 1333MHz. Question is, how can I set the memory to 1600MHz and the correct timings without problems?

Some more questions:

1. Can setting a different speed than stock, but still using correct timings do any problems?

2. Can setting the correct stock speed, but using different timings do any problems?

3. Can setting a different speed and different timings do any problems?

Of course, I'm asking about other problems than the one I'm experiencing, like "kill" the DIMMs slowly by using wrong settings and stuff like that, or other.

Please help me...

Thank you!

If you purchased them all separate, then that is most likely your problem. You should buy a matched kit instead of individual sticks. Basically it sounds like the memory is fighting itself and failing to overclock to 1600mhz. And why it's defaulting back to 1333mhz.

The MB will relax timings in order to get itself to boot when overclocking fails.

You cant hurt the memory with different timings. They will just fail to boot or cause instability. Voltage on the other hand will.
