MoFoQ
It's been a while since I last posted (mainly 'cuz I rarely need to...*knocks on wood*...Corsair stuff just works :D:). Anyways, I bought 2 kits of 4GB x 2 Venegeance Low Profile (black ones) found here. I've been noticing lately that when all 4 sticks are in, it will fail memtest (4.20), usually Test #4 but some times, sooner. So I tested two at a time and it at least gets one "Pass" but on occasion, it will start getting errors after passing once. My thoughts are that these guys get a bit hot and poof... I've tried different slots and in different combinations; same results. So for "'giggles," I grabbed my other Venegeance set (non-LP as shown here) and it's gone through 5+ passes without flinching so I know that the board, chipset, etc. is working as it should. Any thoughts? Is it RMA-able? It doesn't always (in all circumstances) fail memtest...just when the conditions are right. I even thought of getting an active memory cooler to see if that helps though there's no guarantee that it would fix anything. Specs are as follows: mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 cpu: i7-2600K (stock clock) no drives connected during memtest
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 16, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 16, 2011 These do not get HOT if they are getting hot to the touch I would suggest we get them replaced, please use the link on the left and we can make that happen. MoFoQ
They (LP) got "toasty" in a really cold room (50deg F) but it wasn't enough to say "ouch" The big boys (the non-LP) was luke-warm. I'll go ahead and do an RMA. Thx
