Corsair Force GT probs!

Hi all,

I just recently build a new pc, most of my parts are from Corsair, I just loved their products lol.. Anyway, finish installing, do a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate, at first it worked fine (it was build without casing before, I had to wait for a few days for the 800D to arrive), once the case arrived, I've put all the parts into the case, here's where the problem starts.

1. The force gt ssd came with ssd bracket, however they're not necessary as the ssd can be screwed into the hot swap bay of obsidian 800d. Every few hours, my ssd just frozen, I can still move my mouse cursor but I can't click on anything, I had to do hard reset. Everytime I do hard reset, BIOS wouldn't recognise my SSD, the solution was to eject my SSD (lucky it's hot swap) and put it back in. But then after an hour or so, the problem came back again, and I had to do the same process over and over again.

2. How do I know if my force gt is using sata 3 speed? I plug my sata into the intel controller on x79 boards using sata 3 cable, but I can't be sure if my obsidian hot swap is running on sata 3 or not.

3. This is probably out of topic, but both my optical drive are showing as if there's an audio CD on it. I can still burn, play movie, listening to audio cd with these drives, it's just that I need to insert the CD twice as the 1st attempt wouldn't recognised the CD/DVD. For reference:

4. My corsair ssd in device manager is recognised as " ATA Corsair Force GT SCSI Disk Device". Does this affect the performance? I had an asus rampage iv extreme, and the ssd was connected to the intel sata 3

controller using sata 3 cable, but I can't find any info if the ssd is running on sata 3 speed or any different speed.

if it helps, my pc specs are:

Corsair obsidian 800D (no usb 3 front panel)

Corsair H100 push pull

Corsair Force GT 240GB

Corsair AX1200

Corsair CMT8GX3M2A1866C9 8GB (2x4GB) Dominator GT x2

Intel i7 3930K (OCed to 4.25Ghz using Asus AISuite automatic oc-ing)

Asus Rampage IV Extreme

Win 7 64bit fresh install.

1 DVD-RW

1 BD reader

I've tried googling for those but I can't find exact answer. Can anyone please help me?

1. Please check the drive's firmware (e.g. with CrystalDiskInfo). If it's not 1.3.3, you should upgrade to this version.

2. You can perform ATTO benchmark and see if it reaches advertised speed.

4. This is due to the Intel RSTe driver (Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise), which uses a different architecture compared to the Intel RST driver. However, it seems to be unclear, whether Intel RSTe can pass TRIM command to SSDs recognized as SCSI devices. If TRIM will not work with Intel RSTe, then this will affect SSD performance.

crystaldiskinfo showing as "disk not found", I'm running the 3.5.5 version.

I use 2 benchmark, 1 is crystaldiskmark which shows that the speed I'm getting is the 1 I suppose to have, however when I run HDTune, it's performance is basically half of what I'm getting from the 1st benchmark.

Hello

if u didnt change it

Corsair obsidian 800D has sata 2 connectors in hot swap.

Sata 3 connector is sold saperatly.

Thx Lord I have got the same corsair. I love that case :)))

I owned 2 obsidian 800d, my sata2 obsidian has 4 individual power switch whereas my newer obsidian has only 1 power switch for all 4 hot swap (which I've been told by my supplier that it's sata3)

I guess this is due to Intel RSTe which recognizes SSDs as SCSI devices. Open the RSTe console and select your SSD, you should see the firmware version in the right panel.

AFAIK HDTune well show you full speed only when benchmarking an empty drive (both HDD and SSD). However, since the advertised speeds were measured with ATTO, I would recommmend to use this benchmark for comparison.

4. This issue seems to be solved with the new Intel RSTe 3.0.0.2003 (PDF p.17, 6.3)
