Build done in my new 500r!

Hi everybody. Well, just completed my xmas pressie in my lovely new white 500r and I just wanted to share my experiences with you. Over the years I've built lots of computers in a variety of cases, mostly cheap ones, some less so but this case is one of the best.

Until today the best case I have built in was the Akasa Eclipse 64, and I'd say the 500r is up there with it. A few people have posted that the motherboard tray in the 400/500r cases is bent and they have had to push the motherboard down onto the standoffs to get it to fit. I didn't find this. The shape of the tray means that at the bottom edge of the ATX board there is a gap, but all I had to do was screw two of the supplied standoffs into the existing standoffs, raising the height and the whole thing went together with ease!

The only issue I had was the stretch to fit the power connectors to the board and the gpu, but I've ordered some extension cables so that should take the strain off. The case looks awesome in white and black and with the fans looking so cool with white LEDs and being so quiet I can see this one lasting me a long time to come.

Incidentally the cooling is very good indeed. As far as I can tell my overclocked i7 and my GTX580 are running at very low temps (on air) and even under load the system is rock solid. I can't recommend Corsair more highly!

It would cool if you could post some pics, we would love to see your new build using the 500R =)

Thanks for the reply there. I have been further modifying my rig so I'll get some pictures done once the thing is together and the testing is under way!:D:

So now I've finished messing about with my lovely new 500r build. Some lessons learned, some compromises made. I have fitted a push-pull system with the H100 using Scythe Slipstream 120 slim (12mm) fans in the pull position, with two Revoltec 120mm white LED fans in the top as the pushers.

I managed to squeeze the Airflow fan onto the RAM but the Airflow Pro just won't fit!

Everything works wonderfully, and now I have some spare DDR3 and an Airflow set to use in my next build! I will post some pictures soon. Toodles :D:

That looks nice. Do you really use a 19" monitor with a GTX 580? Seems like way overkill.

I'm quite a fan of the old Xerox! It's got a lovely glass screen, minimalist controls and it looks and feels cool. I'll upgrade to a nice 24" widescreen soonish but for the time being it does me... ;):
