AnotherLevel
Motherboard: GA-965P-S3 Rev 3.3 RAM: TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX The computer boots fine with 1 stick of the XMS2 RAM. I tested the sticks and both of them work in both of the slots I am trying to boot them in, but it will only boot properly if there is only 1 stick plugged in either slot. With both sticks plugged in, the computer will quickly restart twice, and then it will run the third time, but the screen won't turn on and no post either. With my old generic RAM sticks, and the computer boots fine with both of them plugged in, but not with my corsair ones. I'm not mixing the RAM either. I'm just trying to get 2 XMS2's to work. I've altered the BIOS settings a bit, made sure it was 800 Mhz, 5-5-5-18. I've tried changing DDR2 OverVoltage Control to +0.1V, +0.2V, +0.3V, changed the FSB and MCH to +0.1V, and to 667 Mhz, but it still won't boot 2 sticks :(:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2011 That would suggest a problem with the MB or specifically the memory controller, can you test these modules in another system?
AnotherLevel
Hey, I don't have another DDR2 system to test them on unfortunately. What is the memory controller? I've managed to boot the system up with 1 stick of ram in each of the DIMMs. I used to run 2x2gb and 2x1gb generics in all 4 DIMM slots and never had to tweak the BIOS or anything. Now I'm just on 2x2gb. The 1GB version of the RAM (also without the heatsinks, although I believe the RAM itself should be the same) is compatible with the MB, but the compatibility list is quite old, so maybe the 2GB versions weren't out or weren't tested then. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2011 I am sorry I would suggest asking a friend to help you test them on another system. And http://www.google.com can answer a lot of general questions!
AnotherLevel
Hey yeah, I just got them tested a while ago but forgot to post. They boot up fine. It might be an issue with compatibility and my MB. Although what could be making it only boot one stick? It will now either restart once and boot with no post, or just boots and no post at all. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2011 That would suggest the memory controller is failing on the MB Chipset.
