Force GT 120 GB formatted but not working

It's going on like the 6th hour of me trying to get my brand-new Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD to work. Here are the different things I tried to get it to work connected via SATA2 on my last-generation Intel P45 LGA 775 motherboard with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600:

  1. Norton Ghost copy of current system HDD to SSD
  2. Upon reboot, getting BSOD after Starting Windows screen
  3. Booted into old OS HDD and formatted SSD
  4. Formatted SSD shows under Windows Explorer and Computer Management
  5. After enabling AHCI via Microsoft website, Corsair SSD Firmware Tool does not see SSD
  6. Reboot into SSD and tried to do fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate but SSD does not appear

I'm at my wit's end here, and I really want to avoid waiting days for an RMA to get processed. I want my SSD to work NOW!!! Please advise.

Instead of formatting your SSD you should SecureErase your drive with PartedMagic. If you want to format your drive, you should use quick format only as a full format could decrease performance and result in a faulty drive. I would recommend you the following:

- Disconnect any drive, except DVD and SSD

- SecureErase your SSD with PartedMagic

- Do a clean Windows installation

- Reconnect all other drives

Thanks madnisman! I tried PartedMagic and zeroed the SSD like you suggested and now my computer is running fine even after several reboots. I think maybe part of the problem was that I had my old system HDD connected at the same time and it was confusing the computer as to which one was the boot drive. Thanks again!
