CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 Compatibility with Clevo M860ETU? (Intel PM45)

Recommended Posts

I purchased two 8GB CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 SODIMM's to install in my Clevo M860ETU and replace my two 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SODIMM's. However, when I install them the laptop is unable to post. I've tried to install just one at a time in either slot, to install them after booting with no RAM, and to install one alongside my current RAM; but none of these have worked.

I have the latest BIOS, and I've had no issue with RAM in the past.

According to the product page, it should be compatible:

Product Description

8GB DDR3 SODIMM Memory kit, 1333MHz

Key Features

Guaranteed to work on all dual channel Intel and AMD SODIMM platforms

World famous Corsair reliability and performance

Package Contents

One 8GB SODIMM memory module

System Requirements

Although it seems unlikely, does this mean both sticks may be defective? Or could it be that my laptop does not support 8GB SODIMM's?

This chipset may not support these modules as they are made with 512M X 8 memory IC's and as far as I know the PM45 Intel chipset will only support modules made with 256M X 8 memory IC's I would confirm that with the system manufacturer.
