Bieters
Hi, last week I reinstalled windows. I booted with Parted Magic and have deleted the 2 windows partitions and then did a secure erase external (dd disk). This was because my drive was frozen and I couldn't get it to do internal erase. Does this matter? Also a little question. How do I check my firmware version of my SSD? I found that update 1.3.3 is available. It's a force GT 180GB SSD. Thanks. Yellowbeard
Hi, last week I reinstalled windows. I booted with Parted Magic and have deleted the 2 windows partitions and then did a secure erase external (dd disk). This was because my drive was frozen and I couldn't get it to do internal erase. Does this matter? Yes it matters and we have prepared a HOW TO guide. From the download page: We have prepared a short guide with pictures for using Parted Magic to secure erase your SSD. Cheers! ::pirate:: NOTE: If you get a message saying that your drive is locked and cannot be secure erased, with Parted Magic still running, remove the power and data cable from the drive for 1 minute. Reattach the cables and then try again. Also a little question. How do I check my firmware version of my SSD? I found that update 1.3.3 is available. It's a force GT 180GB SSD. Thanks. You can check it with a tool such as Crystal Disk Info or download the 1.3.3 firmware update, and run the update tool.
Bieters
Thanks. So it's better to do a fresh reinstall again then.
