CML16GX3M4X1600C8 Boot Instability

Hello all,

I just built a new system but have some questions about setting up some of the settings.

I'm running 4x4GB CML16GX3M4X1600C8 Vengance LP with a Core i7-3930K on an Asus P9X79 Deluxe mobo. Default memory voltage settings of 1.5V was working fine until I added a joystick and Saitek flight yoke then my computer would freeze on boot at the Windows Starting screen. I bumped the voltage up to 1.65V which worked for a couple of days until I added in a webcam and Saitek rudder pedals, now I've had to set the voltage to 1.7V to boot. Are such high voltages normal on this memory? I'm not overclocking right now and Memtest didn't come up with any errors.

Absolutly not. They should run at 1.5v no matter what. 1.7v is way too much for the Sandybridge chips. I would disconnect your peripherals and back the DIMM voltage back to 1.5v until you get this figured out.

The fact that you have to keep upping voltages after adding more peripherals sounds like either the MB is bad or the PSU. Something is not handling the voltages correctly.

I would give ASUS a call and see what their take is on it.
