HumperE3
Hello, I am having some trouble now after awhile. I have two problems, the first and most major being that sometimes not everyday the system freezes up (I can still use the mouse and press one time on each program) and the only thing I can do is to hold the power button down to shut it down. So easy guess is that it's the harddrive, does the firmware update fix this problem? The second problem I have is that utorrent (bittorrent client) gives me small freezes every 1-5 minute or so that the sound freezes up along with everything else for a second or 2. I guess I have to reinstall Windows after the firmware to confirm that it's working good also? Tobad when I got everything I need installed Thanks for all awnsers! (Specs in dropdown menu) Kind regards Humper
madnisman
So easy guess is that it's the harddrive, does the firmware update fix this problem? The FW upgrade solves certain issues like freezes and BSODs, so yes, you should upgrade it. If issues like freezing still occur after upgrading, you will need to SecureErase your drive and do a clean installation of Windows 7.

HumperE3
No I got a second problem ofc. I can't get my computer to work with AHCI. Tried to download the marvel AHCI drivers that was found on gigabyte's homepage but didn't help. I just bsod every time I try to boot.
madnisman
You won't need Marvell drivers, the Marvell controller ports are on the back panel of your mobo. Your native on-board SATA controller is the AMD SB950 chipset. I guess your SATA controller was set to IDE when you installed Windows? Then you will need to: - Set SATA controller in BIOS to IDE mode - Follow this instructions - Set SATA controller in BIOS to AHCI mode
HumperE3
Took some days before I came home to fix this but now it seems to work okey. Still having minor freezes but nothing close to as before (when using utorrent). Thank you for everything! Using AHCI + 1.3.3 firmware now :) Kind Regards
HumperE3
Changed to an other bittorrent client and it seems to work now. Maybe something wrong with the software but not sure yet still testing.
