SSD issue

I was going to start a new thread, but might as well post here.

I have this SSD, when I got my computer (3 months ago now, it's new), it ran perfect for 14-16 days, then after that BSOD (KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, STOP 0x0000007A) every 4 days. Never got a black screen that said, "Reboot and Select proper Boot device."

So, I formatted. I got no BSOD for about 8 weeks, but within that time I got 2 black screens saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device."

Compared to you guys who seem to be getting problems every few days, mine doesn't seem that bad. But, I have come to put the blame on the SSD.

However, what brings me here is, Firefox crashed saying something about a I/O memory reference error for the plugin-container.exe. Right after that I got a BSOD (A process or thread ******** to your system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. Stop: 0x0F4), my computer restarted with a black screen saying, "Reboot and Select proper Boot device."

So, not sure what the problem is here.

The computer runs perfect for days on end, sometimes weeks and even months, but every now and then, a black screen will appear or a BSOD.

My motherboard is a ASUS P8P67 LE, with 2 other WD 2TB HDD on Win 7, 64bit.

Should I be glad the problems don't happen often? Or should I be worried about it? What do you guys think? I have done every test under the sun including Memtest86+, Prime95 and HD Diagnostics with no errors. I should also add, I leave my computer on, sometimes for weeks. I notice that when I turn it off every now and then say when I go to sleep, never get any problems really.

If anyone is interested, I posted my dramas on sevenforums with no success of solution.

Here and Here.

Firstly, what controller are you using? Marvell, Intel?

Are your SATA ports set as Hot-Plug?

And are you running the Intel Rapid Storage Tech?

I disabled Marvell from BIOS as when I boot the computer, Marvell Controller screen was the first thing I see and says no hard disk detected. I then downloaded the latest Intel Management Engine Interface. So I assume I am using Intel.

My SATA ports are not set to Hot-Plug, but after reading the forums, I set my SSD SATA port to enable Hot-Plug a few minutes ago.

No, I'm not running Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Because every time I restarted when it was installed, my computer would freeze for 45 seconds. I read about it and uninstalling it fixed the freezing. Apparently, I never needed it anyway and when I got the computer that was never installed.

In BIOS my setup is as follows:

SATA mode is set to AHCI mode

S.M.A.R.T. Status check is enabled

Sata6g_1 not present

Sata6g_2 SSD

Sata3g_1 WD HDD

Sata3g_2 not present

Sata3g_3 Blu-ray drive

Sata3g_4 WD HDD

Sata6g_1 not present

Sata6g_2 SSD

Your SSD should be connected to first SATA port (SATA6G_1).

It would be helpful if you could add your system specs to your profile (see User CP). And please check the drive's firmware version with CrystalDiskInfo and post it here.

Does it make a difference if it's on 1 or 2?

I just added my system specs.

Firmware is 1.2, health status Good 100%. Anything else you would like from CrystalDiskInfo?

See how you get on with Hot-plug enabled and post back.

Also keep an eye on the Event Viewer and see if you have any errors.

Will do.

The only errors I get consistently in Event Viewer are WMI and a lot of Peer Networking Grouping, which doesn't seem related.

However, when I experienced my last BSOD I got the Kernel-Power error and Kernel-EventTracing error which had MSE stopped due to error: 0xC000000D.

Afaik it makes no difference, but...

Firmware is 1.2...

... you need to upgrade your Firmware to 1.3.3, FW 1.2 is known for BSODs and freezing issues. For FW upgrading it is recommended to connect the SSD to the very first SATA port. If you are still experiencing the same issues after upgrading, it is strongly recommended to SecureErase the drive (all data lost) and do a clean Windows 7 installation. You may want to backup your OS and restore it after SecureErase, but there is a small chance, that this will restore the failure as well.
