tono
I just replaced my old motherboard with a new ecs IC78M-A. When I try to install the 2 CM2X1024-6400 sticks, the computer does not boot, the only thing I get is the ide led on and the power led blinking. If I install 1 stick in the 3rd slot, the computer works perfect, but if I try to use it on any other slot it does not work. Is there any way to use both sticks on this motherboard? Agent-Sharp
Hello, Using just the one module, enter the BIOS and look for this option, DCT Unganged Mode - Set DCT Unganged Mode to AUTO. - Save and Exit. - Insert the 2nd module into DIMM slot 4. - Turn on, does it work? tono
Thank you for you reply. I tried your suggestion, but it still did not work. Yesterday I exchanged the motherboard thinking there was something wrong with it, but the new one does the same thing.
Agent-Sharp
Are both sticks exactly the same / part of a kit? Your BIOS should also have a setting for the DRAM frequency, sometimes setting it to a lower value can help the board boot with 2 sticks. EG, 266MHZ or 333Mhz. tono
They are part of a kit. I did as you suggested and changed the frequency to 266 and then inserted the second stick in slot 4 as the manual say for optimal performance, but it did not work either, so i tried it on slot 1 and it worked but reset all my settings in the bios. Thank you very much for your help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 10, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 10, 2011 Please test the modules on another system to be sure but from what you posted I would check the MB and or CPU.
tono
I don't have another system to try the modules in, but i bought 2 cheap new modules to try on this system and they did not work either. Since i already replaced the MB i ordered a new cpu, but it will take some time to get here. Thank you for your help.
