robbiek
Good evening. I guess I am the latest victim of the x256 Extreme SSD issue where it is no longer recognized. I have initiated an RMA. My questions are A) Does Corsair only do replacements or do they have any ability to correct the firmware so that the drive can be recognized (and I can recover my data)? B) If the answer to the first question is "replacement only," does Corsair recommend a reputable vendor for data recovery and is it likely given this particular bug? Thank you, Robbie K
silicon_ghost
A quick Google search turned up at least 2 companies that can do SSD recovery, one of which is a SandForce Trusted (is the drive in question a SandForce model?) partner: http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/devices-supported/ssd-data-recovery/ http://www.datarecovery.net/solid-state-drive-recovery.html Not to sound cruel, but you should really have a backup system in place. I got burned enough times that I'm anal about backups. I had a double failure last year; I lost a drive AND the backups in unrelated incidents at nearly the same time. It cost me $1600 to have a firm recover my data.
robbiek
Thanks for the info. I think I looked at them and they did not call out the Corsair x250 specifically. I'll write to them and see what they say. And agreed about the backups.. I, too, was hit with a double failure within a week. I guess two back-ups are the only way to go!
