Theory | By Hannes

Creativity is neither a strategy nor a form of sublimation to deal with madness. Madness is merely creativity thwarted by society, a label created by society in order to imprison its visionaries.

A brief introduction, an epilogue to the next air-cooled construction. Theory | By Hannes will be clearly inspired by Carl Axel Olsson's work. He is a person who meant a lot for my creative develpoment and by that also had à great impact on the person I am today. I will show off some of his works and then also use them in my design of the construction process. I will include much of his style in this building as a tribute to a great mentor.

The case itself, I will not do much with the outside, Lian Li has just about exact perfection in this chassis, but a lot will be done on the inside. Firstly, I'll powder-coat the inside black. I will be working a lot of revising their designs to something more clean, and then implement the art that I and many others Swedish "västeråsare" grown up with.

I have some problems with the color scheme of this building and because of that I will not talk much about it yet, but if you have any creative suggestions and I'll be more than happy to hear from you, and reflect a bit about them. My problem is so far that you can't get the sleeves in the color I want to use with this chassis. Sleeve is something that I've seen as a must so far in all my builds, maybe it's time to look for other methods. Or maybe someone *cough* Nils *cough* have some insight on new colored sleeves.

Traditionally, the enthusiast building always either incredibly impressive with cut-out details or elaborate engravings, or they are classy and almost minimalist with an incredible balance between what is necessary and what is "just for show" with millimeter performance and execution. I will not go away quite as far from it as I've done with the Echo, it is enough with the love-hate relationship between it and me to last a lifetime. No, I will keep the building clean, but also include the influences that I think is needed in computer-building: Sculptures. Sculpting the chassis is something I wanted to wait for until my Singularity build, which will be in an V1010 or V2010, but it's something I think I can implement in this construction aswell, by the inspiration of Carl Axel Olsson's art.

Grandpa, this is for you.

Dare I say "It looks good, in theory"? :)

Why not put the GPU back down, and switch the flow on the GPU by going from the bottom of the MB block to the left side of the GPU, then straight from the right side on top of the GPU block (instead of the left bottom) and off to the right.

This would eliminate that curve going across the case, and should look better with straight tubes. With all the effort you're putting in to clean connectors there, its a shame to just settle for having to go all curve tubes.

First off, thank you for replying! Also thank you for questioning my current design. I've been waiting for someone with the guts. A great start in this forum. :-)

I must say that I disagree tho. I think that it'll look empty and imbalanced if I had the loop you're suggesting. I'm working on a sollution on the RAD-Under GPU tube. It looks weighted and doesn't follow the flow of it's connectors. If only bitspower had 65 degree adapters. :-P The probably coolest sollution would be to have a 45 degree adapter the throughthe third fillport in the floor and have the GPU run through there instead of under the RES. But there just isnt any room.

I like Curved tubes as long as it flows with the connectors it is attatched to - following the same angle. I think it playes well with the plexi and the CPU heatsink. I'm painting a design for the PSU/5,25" bay cover, any suggestions? I'm also thinking of bending the plexi above the lower Reservoar outlet to match the form of the 5,25" bay cover. Any thoughts on that? Leave it straight or bend?

Should I have white painted plexi on the outside (backside) of the case with the same design as inside? Covering the airexhaust next to the PCI ports and rounds the FAN hole. The front, top and sides will be left original except for a aftermarket 19mm offswitch.

Thank you for replying. :-P

Given your colourscheme, and your decision to use curves, I'd definitely go with pinstriping on the bay covers - using your internal colours as an accent to the front of the case.

I think the top of the plexi by the reservoir does look out of place. It either needs to curve, or continue up. The curve is probably going to look a lot better, though.

As for the back, I think you should leave it as it is. If you put plexi over the back, it may look like it was just an afterthought. Hold a bit up with the edge flush to the side panel lip, and see what it looks like from an angle.

As much as I like your chronicling so far, I'd like to see some full-frame shots :)

Pinstriping huh. Never thought of that. I want to cover up/hide the 5,25" bay but maybe I should put something between the plexi and the bay and then do some stripes.. wai.. wait you meant in the front of the case. Yeah, maybe you are right about doing something there aswell but I'm keen on keeping the exterior original, like a sleeper mod.

I'll go with a curve by the reservoar since we both agree on that note, I'm not ready to leace the back just yet. Maybe brushed aluminum would be nicer. :-) Now when I thinkabout it I actually have made Aluminum covers for the PSU/5,25" area. I hooe I havent trashed it.

You have seen the videos, right? How do you want the picture. Simply straight forward without any wierd **** going on like with the rest super angled pictures?

Not finished yet bro. ;-)

I know I know, I was just kidding. I have been following it on Bit, and you have spent ages on it (not a diss, just an observation!), when do you think it will be finished?

And I really like it! Its clean, which I appreciate! And from me, a +1 on the pinstriping! It would look awesome in white black and red colors! And you dont see it very often :)

Hey! I have some new designs for you to think of. This have some alternative mounting. The left piece will be on the inside of the case, while the right piece will be on the outside. The fan will suck air into the case.

And here's all the pieces.

There is nothing I can say except..., impressive..., most impressive.

Thank you Justin! :-)

There's some ways you can assemble it. :-) I think I like the #6 best.

Here's some ideas of a SSD mount I have. Ignore the brand. ^^,
