Dunkelheit
I got myself into this mess, but it seemed to work out in the end. I purchased 6GB Dominator (DDR3 XMS3-TR3X3G1600C8D) when I first got my computer. About a month ago my friend pointed out that 12GB Vengeance was cheap on Newegg so without doing any research I assumed since it was new it was better. I have recently done OCing research and found out that Dominator is a higher tier of RAM than Vengeance is (and is 6GB Dominator is still more expensive than 12GB Vengeance). Whichever one I don't use I'm going to give to my friend that's building a computer. Which one should I use, which one is better?
Yellowbeard
Both are equally reliable. The main reason you may want to get 12GB is if you "NEED" 12GB as opposed to 6GB. This will depend on your individual usage.
Dunkelheit
All I do is game, I didn't really need to buy the 12GB of Vengeance but I did haha. For a gamer/OCer, which one would you use? (Considering I have both, I'm not sure which to keep and which to give to my friend) I can't find any good benchmarks of either, or a comparison of the two. I've also read that Vengeance is comparable to Dominator even though Dominator is supposed to be better.
Yellowbeard
We don't guarantee specific OCing headroom on any memory but Dominator is more likely to have it than Vengeance. And, the Dominator has the DHX+ spreaders so you can customize the cooling and other things, depending on which model you have.
Dunkelheit
I've read that the Vengeance 1600 kits that were tested and proved to be very good at overclocking up to 1900mhz were v5.11, while most of the newer ones (including mine) are v2.12's. Is this true? I have CMZ12GX3M3A1600C9.
Wired
Complete hogwash. They're all only tested to guarantee their rated spec.
