Asus A8V Deluxe Check Bad Sum Error On Post

Thanks for the reply RAM Guy. But how could it be the PSU? Wrong voltage? I have an Antec 480W Butterfly and if anything is wrong icouldn't i correct it? :(: By the way CPUz reports FSB as 200.3. Is that as with others or do they bump it up a little to get better scores?

I compared my scores to [U]horobosu's [/U] scores at: [url]http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=techmobocpu&Number=4147247&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=4&vc=1[/url] and noticed that my only difference is that his RAM is running at 230MHz. How do I (safely) do that?

You either need to send at least 2.7v's to the memory manually, and if you are not already on bios v.1006, then I suggest you do so......v.1003 bios is crap. If you are going to be overclocking then I recommend bios 1005.020 or 1005.021 which offer locking AGP/PCI so you don't cook something. B) I'm using v1.006. C) The problem is that I have 4 DIMMs occupied -- two sets of TWINX1024-3200XLPRO. I'm sure it runs fine at 2-2-2-5 with only 2 DIMMs used up (just one matched pair), but the story seems to change when you up the ante. That's the difference -- I'm using 4 DIMMs.

how would I know.. I lowered the multiplyer by .5 to 11.5 and increase FSB up to 215 and played some hard doom3. After a few I got a blue screen (windows needs to shut down to prevent damage to your hardware) :( At 215 FSB, 11.5 multiplyer I had 2474 mhz on my FX-53 (2.4 stock) 430 mhz on my 2-2-2-5-1 timed corsair XLRPO @ 2.8v <--- might have been the ram that crashed I dont know..

Would that be an indication that i do not have the agp locks?

Second, default is 1000mhz HTT and a FSB over ~215-220mhz you need to drop to 800mhz or you're gonna be unstable and possibly damage something........hence Bill Gates's message to shut down your system to prevent your HDD from petering out. If you are going to overclock >215-220 FSB on rev. 1.02......you need to try bios 1005.021 and see if you can get your AGP/PCI locked........1006.006 is not going to give you locking slots, because ASUS KNOWS that rev.1.02 is not capable of this and remain stable, by a bios THEY endorse. Bios 1005.021 and 1005.020 are bios's that are hacked to allow this....IF you're lucky.

The throttle-up is instantaneous. And all benchmark results (sythetic and real-world games) had identical results as well. So CnQ appears to work quite well. I'll post the links when i find them.

I'm thinking of installing the latest VIA Hyperion chipset drivers. The latest version is 4.51 on VIA's web site which is newer than the 4.49 which is posted on the ASUS A8V download page. Looks like many reviews of the A8V used the 4.51 drivers and they were stable. Has anyone tried these? Any issues? Performance improvement? FYI, i recently installed the latest Marvell Yukon GigE drivers (v7.14) from Marvell's web site, seems to be working fine. Only issue is that Windows Update still thinks i need to update this driver whereas i'm sure i have the latest version, very strange.

I seem to be having the same problem with my Asus A8V Deluxe, FX-53 (939pin) and 2 1GB sticks of Crucial DDR 400. Whenever I left the BIOS options at default, the system would hang during the Windowx XP blue screen setup when I attempted to create my partition. After tweaking the memory settings in the BIOS with some of the settings you guys have posted, I have made a little progress, and it will now format my drive to 100% before hanging again. I am getting incredibly frustrated with all of this, and would appreciate any help. ASUS tech support was useless, and Crucial gave me their recommended settings for this memory, but in my BIOS, I have options for like 6 more settings than they gave me recommendations for, and they had no idea what they should be. Here are the options I have in my BIOS, and what Crucial said they should be: CAS Latency - 3 TRC - 4 TRFC - ? TRCD - ? TWR - ? TRWT - ? TRAS - ? TRP - 4 TWCL - ? Pre-Charge Delay - 8 Use a 1:1 Ration (200mhz) So I have 6 other options that I have no idea what to set them to other than auto. I know people have got this board to work and they say it runs awesome but I am on the verge of giving up and going with the MSI Neo Platinum. Could someone please help me? I don't think I have a bad board or memory, since whenever I have been playing with the settings, it does make a difference, but it always seems to get stuck at the format 100% complete. Crucial seems to think if I can get the install done with just 1GB inserted, or even throw in an old 512 stick of DDR 333, then I can go back and put in my 2 1GB sticks and everything should be fine. That sounds great, but if I cant get it to work now, why would it work later on??? I would appreciate any assistance anyone can give me....thanks!
