X58 just doesn't have any native Sata III ports like the newer 1155 chipsets. The Marvell controller is most likely hanging off the ICH10R southbridge on a single PCIe x1 link as well. I removed my Adaptec 6805e controller and installed an Areca 1880i SATA/SAS 6Gbps controller... man what a difference. I am running 2x Corsair Force GT's in RAID 0.
