s/n problem - Corsair Flash Survivor GTR 32 GB

hi everybody,

Probably my problem will be unusual. I have the big problem with my seller of product Corsair Flash Survivor GTR 32GB. I tried my product claim because it's broken (but device failure is not my question). My seller did not accept my request because of numbers on plastic package of product (scanned barcodes) and number printed on the USB connector of my corsair UFD are diferent. He says that the device's I bought from him and my(physical) device are not the same, because of numbers defference. Is there any possibility howto determine what number printed on USB connector of physical device corresponds with numbers (or barcode) detectable (for example by barcode scanner) from plastic box (I mean standarts factory plastic package)? I need to show my seller(at shop) that my broken device with number below was realy purchased on his shop. Number printed on USB connector of my physical device is 10367389 (see pictures) and other side of device 010002. http://www.toafe.org/detail1.jpghttp://www.toafe.org/detail2.jpg Pictures of numbers and barcodes showen on original plastic package I did'n take :-( . Can you explain me what does mean this numbers (on this forum.corsair.com I found some information about "Corsair Lot code", but I am not able to decode this number)? My seller says that correct number of device must be 2100815389 (number scanned from plastic package), so I'm clueless. Is seller right that number on my physical device (Corsair Flash Survivor GTR 32GB) must be every the same as number(which one? there are more numbers and barcodes) readable (scannable) from factory plastic box? Thank you veru much. Best regards.

Lot code has to do with memory, not USB. As far as I'm aware the numbers on the USB stick have nothing to do with the UPC. The UPC isn't a unique number anyway. I'll inquire about this.

thank you very much for answer Wired.

I try better specify that problem. I found some pictures of the same type device from review http://www.ccereviews.com/reviews/corsair-flash-survivor-gtr-32gb-usb-flash-drive/3/#. My unfair seller argues mismatch that numbers (highlights red colour). Not numbers of UPC (if you mean UPC=united parcel service). Simply number on physical device and numbers on the package of device are different. http://www.toafe.org/detail3.jpghttp://www.toafe.org/detail4.jpg.

So, howto show seller that my device I bought at his shop...(I know number on physical device and seller know number scanned by barcode scanner from factory package)? Any other advice guys? Can anybody explain what exactly that numbers mean (for example some corsair technical standarts maybe define format of these numbers...)?

United Parcel Service = UPS, not UPC.

UPC = Universal Product Code

Frankly the receipt should be enough.

:biggrin: thank you Wired!

Half part number secret is solved. Only identification of number printed on USB connector of physical device is mystery still. Maybe there exist any relation between these numbers. :idea:Hm...my number from physical USB connector is 10367389 and seller says that correctly number is 2100815389 (scanned from package). It seems that last three numbers (389) are the same... Any other idea guys?

:laughing: Hi, everybody!

here is the official answer from corsair technical support:

The number on the drive is the lot code which is not the serial number that is on the package. Thank very much Wired and Corsair Technical support team for help. Be careful for unfair (re)sellers...
