Corsair CX500 V2 high pitched squeal like old TV

The PSU came hot , and was warm to the touch via UPS sitting it on the front door in 104F heat outside.

It had that a plasticy rubber burny smell for the first 2 days, now it's got a high pitched squeal to it like an old old old TV.

It happens as soon as I plug it up, and before any fan spins on.

What in the world is a matter with it now? Should I RMA it for a replacement ?

The system is:

Athlon II X4 640, DDR3 4GB, WD Black Sata, SATA DVD burner, 1 80mm case fan. Asus MB: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

BTW: There was no squealing with another power supply before the Corsair came.

Are you using a APC or battery back up and did you happen to try a different out let in your house to be sure its not a grounding issue?

The house has no ground besides newer plugins put in in the late 90s in the kitchen and new AC.

I RMA'd it , corsair the burning plastic smell was not normal during the first few days and that it might have been damaged due to heat and sun.

If you do not have a ground in your house that may be the issue, newer PSU's need the ground to work properly.

I have a Corsair in this machine (400 watt) from 1-2 years ago that isn't squealing. Although I do recall some kind of "new" smell to it the first few days if I recall right.

I got a second one, replacement and the same effects.

I hooked in the Bestec 300 watt I have laying around and it doesn't do it.

I guess I need to try a different power supply once the refund goes through ?
