advent66
Will there be a bracket released soon for the "Sandy Bridge" i5 and i7 processors - socket 1155? I know that the processors do not release until Jan 9. I am planning on ordering one on that day, and do not have the hardware to mount my H50 onto the processor for cooling. Thank you! hotstocks
Actually the bracket is set up to work 1155 but will mount diagonal, Corsair said the diagonal is normal for it. When I pressed harder, the pins just pierced the double sided tape and it almost gets flush. It does clear the resistors, but does bow out a little. I think it will end up working fine (will try to build computer this weekend), though not a PERFECT fit by any means.
yakapo
I've got an i2500k and an h50. First of all ignore the instructions for 1156- they are totally wrong. Read the tiny print on the 1156 bracket and put the bolt / pin thingys where is says 1156 on the bracket. Then it will fit almost perfect. I didn't use the double tape. Needless to say I was more than a little frustrated when I thought I had to buy a new bracket and my computer was already taken apart. Well worth the effort. I'm @ 4.5ghz @ 1.29v with temps peaking around 60c.
hotstocks
I got mine at 4.7ghz 1.28v and temps mid 60's primed. Funny thing is that this is great voltage for 4.7, but getting anything more out of the chip is impossible, changing all voltages up I can get 4.8 kinda stable or 4.9 not stable. Not worth the ridiculous extra voltage and heat for 100mhz. Most people are pushing 1.35-1.4v to get 4.7ghz, so I am lucky at 1.28v-1.29v with llc ultra high. pohemi
I'm trying to mount the backplate for my H70 on an Asrock P67 Extreme6. It definitely does NOT line up with the 1156 spacing. The backplate will definitely require "modification" to use all 4 pins/screws, and as mentioned, the backplate is sitting on top of solder points and circuit lines on the back of my board. I contacted tech support to ask if there's a separate bracket for 1155 but I am awaiting a reply. Online info about compatibility seems odd...Newegg showed it as 1155 compatible, as do a few info pages on Corsair's site itself. Other pages do NOT show it as usable with 1155, so...what's the story I wonder?!

Maerten
I agree, the instructions that come with the H50 for installing the 1156 bracket seem to be incorrect. You need to check the bracket itself for the correct positioning of the crews. This should be corrected. As or myself, I am planning to upgrade my ITX system from an i3 530 to an i7 2600K. As far as I can remember (too much hassle to check my system) some dual sided sticky foam is needed for installing the bracket. My questions are the following: 1. Please confirm that I can use the 1156 bracket for a 1155 set up. 2. In case I'm using the 1156 bracket for installation of a 1155 set up, should I use the instructions that come with the H50 or use the markings on the 1156 bracket itself? 3. I remember some double sided sticky foam needed to be used to install the backplate of the 1156 bracket. Can this be replaced and if yes, how? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Maarten from the Netherlands
andyvee
the double sided tape is only used to hold the backplate while you bolt it up , its not actualy needed or part of the install , i never even used mine when i installed as cleaning the goop off would be fun if i ever sell this board on .
