vassagomdk
Hi there, I have an ASUS P6T mobo with this current Corsair RAM kit: Corsair Dominator - TW3X4G1600C9D G (2x2GB kit). Im looking to upgrade with an additional 8 Gb to take my total RAM to 12 GB. I have been advised by every supplier near me that this model has reached End of life, and been replaced with: CMP4GX3M2A1600C8 So i was wondering if i get 2 x the new replacement model kits (CMP4GX3M2A1600C8), will they work nicely with the original kit (TW3X4G1600C9D) ?? Or should i not be buying ram in pairs given my mobo is an ASUS P6T? Is there a difference with buying two sets of (3x2gb) kits VS 3 sets of (2x2Gb) kits? As the Corsair website configurator suggests 3x kits... Thanks for any support you could provide RAM guy!
Wired
Never recommended to mix kits let alone memory of different sizes. Also, CMP4GX3M2A1600C8 was not the replacement for TW3X4G1600C9D, CMD4GX3M2A1600C9 was (still doesn't guarantee compatibility though). Yes, there's a big difference between a 6 GB (3x2GB) kit and three (2x2GB) kits. Get ONE 12 GB kit that meets your needs.
