MeanBruce
This thread will most likely get axed I guess because good news is not allowed here! But I still hope everyone that has been waiting and waiting like me can place their order for the 650D cuz it's pure morphogenesis baby!

Ultimatium
Seriously? While my 800D is heavy, I can still move it. I've got a full WC loop for CPU and GPU, a 480mm radiator and a really heavy PSU and I can still move it around. And I'm a scrawny seventeen year old XD. And I'm a lazy 20 year old
schizo
why on earth would you want to move a case that is full up with water cooling equipment ? i really cant understand people who say they cant move there case because it's to heavy ! it's supposed to be heavy people ! leave it where it is and enjoy it. you seriously dont have the need to keep on moving it. andiron
I bought one of the first available from Newegg and have it sitting in it's cover waiting for the day I start my build...probably a month down the road. From the first review on Newegg I'm a little concerned. Sounds like Corsair decided to solve the ventilation problems of the 600T by upping the RPMs. They kept the 20mm deep fans. According to the review on Newegg...the fans make more noise and when you try to slow them down they make a buzzing sound. This leaves me a little bummed. The case is indeed beautiful...but comes at a premium. I plan on running a Quardo 4000 gpu...that will put off a lot of heat. Not sure what case temps will be...but wonder if I should already plan on changing out the fans? From what I understand, changing out the 200 mm fans with something thicker...like a 25 or 30mm fan is not possible....at least on the front intake. And I also understand it's a good idea to have a positive case pressure. SO... putting in dual exhaust 120 or 140mm fans on top will probably reduce internal case pressure. But I don't know...maybe it will be of some help? People don't want a noisy case. People want good ventilation. This is an enthusiast case marketed towards people that want both of these things. Why is this difficult to understand. It doesn't matter how slick it looks...if I paid full price just to be disappointed down the road. Well...then I will turn into the biggest posting machine you've ever seen. And my review won't be so nice either. I shouldn't have to mod this case....but if I do...anyone's recommendation will be appreciated. Brand and size of fans etc. would be helpful. I am not willing to go with liquid cooling btw. So to end on a positive note...beautiful case!

So to end on a positive note...beautiful case! I am supposed to get this message out on Monday but since this popped up, I'll give it to you here and now as well. This is from our case product manager: I wanted to let you know, we have discovered that early shipments of the Obsidian 650D seem to have a buzzing noise when the fan controller is used to run the fans at lower RPMs. We are currently analyzing this problem, and determining the proper solution. Later this month, we will be providing a free repair kit to all 650D purchasers that will correct this issue. There will be a special page on our web site to obtain this kit, but in the meantime, if you have any questions, send an email to redbeard@corsair.com with the subject line “650D Buzz” and we’ll answer them for you. And, of course, I will keep you posted with the status on this issue. Thanks again.
theadder
Are you able to give us some sense of the cooling ability of the Obsidian 650D, Yellowbeard? Having read things about the 600T case, this is the sole thing holding me back from buying the 650D. From what I have read, it isn't possible to change the fans in the case; is this true? Or at least the selection to replace them with is very limited. Are there unfilled positions where it is possible to add additional fans? I'd rather not have to use the tie things to add them, so are there proper additional places for fans? At some point someone must have used a pretty high end system in the case during the course of the testing, and it ought to be possible to give some indication of how it performs. I like Corsair and I want to give the company my money, but it would be nice if there was more information available. Edit: It would also be helpful to know what the clearance for CPU cooler height is. It looks as if the case is somewhat smaller the 600T and so I am unsure what will and will not fit. andiron
Very "stand up" response Yellowbeard! Thank you! With this said...I'm still concerned about air flow....and will be deciding shortly whether or not I will keep my case or send it back to Newegg. At least I won't be factoring in the buzz when making this decision. My next action will be to plug in my PSU and power on the fans. In this way I will be able to judge airflow and sound. If all looks good I will gamble that I can keep my build at the proper temps. If not, I will really be sad to send back such a beautiful case....but I will if necessary. I can get a less attractive case that rates high with regard to cooling and is less expensive...but it won't be as nice and full featured as the Obsidian. Hoping this doesn't happen to be sure! Again, I appreciate the response. It's good that Corsair will be taking care of the buzz....before the verbal buzz get's too loud.

So to end on a positive note...beautiful case! I read the review too and decided to try out the paper clip trick on my PSU to power up the fans last night. The review is correct, but i didnt post it yet because i was tired after work and decided it would be best posted with a video which i didnt feel like making at the time. They sound terrible on anything but high, which totally defeats the purpose of a fan controller and eliminates one of the reasons i bought this case. i was none too happy about the prospect of having to replace the fans/controller out of necessity before i could even power a system on for the first time. At this price point, it should have quality fans and a fan controller which works in practice and not just theory. I am supposed to get this message out on Monday but since this popped up, I'll give it to you here and now as well. This is from our case product manager: Great news. This is why i buy Corsair. If the unexpected happens, Corsair takes prompt action to remedy the situation. Very "stand up" response Yellowbeard! Thank you! This thing came in a giant heavy box and newegg's policy is that the customer pays return shipping, even for defective products. I would have unhappily replaced the fans/controller increasing the cost of an already expensive case considerably. Glad to hear i dont have to worry and will get the case i thought i was getting in the first place at the price i agreed to pay :)
andiron
faulkton, I was about to try that trick today myself..but I'm a total newbie....gonna just see if I can get it to power up. But, just in case I don't get a chance today...can you tell me your impression of the fan performance? Was it noisy on high? Do you think they will provide adequate cooling? I don't like the idea of paying return shipping...but I like even less the idea of being careful to buy the prime components for my build...only to house them in a case that won't provide adequate cooling...or is louder because of inefficient design/high rpms. So far it sounds like your only beef is the buzz. Well...sounds like that will be taken care of in short order. Thanks!
MeanBruce
RedBeard( I think that is Corsair George, not positive) at another forum site said that all currently shipping 650Ds do not have the buzzing issue! That only the very early few are affected. I guess we will all find out when they begin delivering Monday Tuesday and for me Wednesday!;)

My only complaint is that the fans are louder on medium and low than they are on high. I think it will have great cooling the way it is, but I plan on trying to figure out a positive pressure set up. Lanka
Perhaps there will be an optional solid side panel. Please? Any chance for that to happen? Obsidian 675 with all the fixes&features asked by community? :p Seriously though. I considered getting 700D just because of the solid side panels since the windows hardly matter when the case is hidden under table. And with the solid panels I'd probably stick some sound dampening material on them eventually (there are cooling ocd's and there are silence ocd's - guess which I am.) Didn't get the 700D after I realized how darn tall the case is. It'd only leave like 5 cm under my table and I'm far too used of keeping tablet (or my feet when drawing with said tablet) on the case. So erm.. replacement solid side panels? Pretty please, with a stack of euros on top? Btw, did the happy owners here figure out if you can replace the 200mm fans with thicker ones? I skimmed through 2~3 threads and didn't notice if anyone said one way or other after getting the case.

As for the front intake fan, yes you can, depending on how you have the hard drive cages positioned. It is not necessarily a given. I would imagine you can replace the top fan unless your CPU cooler comes incredibly close to clearance of the normal fan.

Nahaz
I know the Obsidian 650D is meant to follow in it's big brother's footsteps but is it at all possible for Corsair to modify the perspex and have 120 or 140mm fan mounting points on it? If it had that then the cooling of the case would be great if not fantastic because you'll have directly blown over your graphics cards. You could see the demand was there for the 600T and a window/mesh accessory is now available for that case. Some people might say it will make the case ugly but in the end it's about having a case that is sleek, well built with great cooling.
