Obsidian 650D

Yea can someone please give us an answer on this? I'm sure the stock fans are 200x20mm. But will the case support the more common 200x30mm fans? I am sure most enthusiasts want to change the stock 200mm fans, but for example in the 600t you cant do a 200x30mm fan as it only supports 200x20mm. I hope the 650D will support a 200x30mm. Can anyone provide insight on this?

I'm not too worried with the top exhaust as I'm fairly certain you can mount dual 120mm's just like the 600t

I noticed the case will come with 2 200mm fans. I had a few questions about them.

- Are they traditional depth 200mm fans, or the same as the 600T?

- Can the front 200mm be replaced with 2 120mm like the top 200mm?

Corsair don't do any step-up program. Plus, the 800D is a higher class of case than the 650D.

Damn, that sucks :(: I already invested a lot of money in this brand but it's difficult to decide then Corsair constantly comes up with new hardware. If i had known back when i bought the 800D that they would launch the 650D i would had waited 100%. Will be difficult to sell the 800D, well i love that case but i can't physichally move it, too heavy for me with my damaged back.

It's simply too big and heavy for me. I should had thought about that when i bought it.

Yeah, it's not the first thing that springs to mind when buying a case, is it? :p

Motherboard size, check. Space for radiator, check. Bracket for fork-lift... dammit.

I can say this - if you thought it was heavy with basic components in it, don't watercool. I've got a single loop in my 700D and it weighs a goddamn ton.

Not gonna break, though :)

Yeah i didn't think about the weight when i first bought it. I just thought about buying a case that would suit all my needs. Actually i have never thoughts about weight before when buying a case, what i look for when buying a case is a clean design, build quality and how builder friendly it is, hence i got hooked on the 800D.

But with hardware, tripple rad, etc. it becomes extremely heavy, i can't move it physically. So will most likely need to 'downgrade' to a smaller case ( like the 650D ) and without WC.

Wow, 3 pages and you are the only one that even noticed the original post. How sad...

I own a 600T. While it is a great case, the 200mm fans in it suck. You can replace the top 200mm with 2 120mm fans, which is ok I guess. Unfortunately you can't do the same with the front 200mm.

Corsair really needs to make the top and front fans 200x30mm or dual 120mm compatible. Please Corsair...listen to your community, they don't come up with these ideas for no reason.

By most accounts the 20mm depth of the fans are upto much, anyone know if the 650D will have standard 30mm's ?

The 20mm depth is the reason the stock fans in the 600T are awful. There wasn't enough clearance to fit a 30mm depth fan in top. Hopefully Corsair has read the complaints and opts for a 30mm depth on all 200mm fans. Let's face it, 200x30mm is the industry standard. No need to try and reinvent the wheel Corsair.

The 200mm fans will make or break this case for me. I like the 600T, but had I known the 200mm fans in it were so lacking I would've never purchased it. Shame on me. Hopefully Corsair chooses to use the standard depth. If not, at least give us the ability to replace the top AND front 200mm fan with two 120mm fans.

i agree

hoping to get this to replace my TJ09

but the fan issue is a concern

Just FYI, there is no "standard" depth on fans of this size. Some manufacturers use 20mm, some use 25mm.

True, there is no industry standard. NZXT and Cooler Master choose 30mm as their depth. Xigmatek and Corsair choose a 20mm depth. The NZXT and CM fans move more air and have better cooling abilities.

20mm is just not enough depth. It does not move enough air.

Cooler Master MegaFlow - 200x200x30mm - 700RPM - 110CFM

NZXT FS-200RB - 200x200x30mm - 800RPM - 90CFM

Xigmatek CLF-F2004 - 200x200x20mm - 800RPM - 76CFM

At least if Corsair is going to use subpar 20mm depth fans, move the HDD cages back a few millimeters and lower the top of the motherboard tray as well. The overall appearance of their cases is great, but I'd rather install fans that actually move air. I'd also like to do so without a dremel.

I have low temperature OCD.

Seriously? While my 800D is heavy, I can still move it. I've got a full WC loop for CPU and GPU, a 480mm radiator and a really heavy PSU and I can still move it around.

And I'm a scrawny seventeen year old XD.
