manumi
I finally got my I7 920 at 4.6GHz with a stable temp about 50°C as long as I want to. But, no, i didn't exactly respect the installation manual ... ::pirate:: I don't use the fan anymore and I put the radiator in a tupperware (yes yes) full of water and ice (-cubes - i tried with snow but it becomes water too fast). And that works ! ... as long as you don't forget to put new icecubes when the temp reaches 60°C (that's direct - temp immediatly -10°C). :D::D::D::D:
Ultimatium
Lmao that's crazy, my record is with a swiftech apogee xt waterblock @ 4.4GHz but i never thought that a prebuild watercooling system such as the H50 could reach these extreme clocks. fanqi1234
That's the idea of water cooling... if you just keep the radiator inside then it's not much different than air cooling
Wired
No, standard water cooling doesn't submerge the whole radiator :)

djmorgan
I'm sorry I just don't get it! why are you doing this? I thought computers were productivity tools not poor examples of a small garbage dumps :-) Still as long as it makes you happy. David
Wired
Yes, you don't get it :) Why do people tweak and tune their transportation (cars, bikes, etc)? BECAUSE THEY CAN :) Why do they climb the mountain? BECAUSE IT'S THERE. /start rant /end rant (read between the lines lol!)
Synthohol
this thread is an example of sub ambient cooling. the OP used just the rad in ice, thats fantastic thinking outside the box! i took it a step further and used a pelt. the "chilled" side was the hot side of the TEC while the very sub zero side was bolted to another waterblock that fed the 3rd waterblock on the CPU. and why did i do it?? because i CAN and i DID!! :):
Alphadog
Man that is pretty cool. I would have never even thought of doing that lol. But it does give me some ideals.

David I don't know.. sometimes i think that i should had bought a small COMPAQ plastic PC with an intel 810e2 chipset, with sdram, 150w no name PSU and poor airflow. But somehow i decided to spend a whole lot of money in something called enthusiast hardware.. i still don't know why. Oh well. :D:
Wired
Meh, that's nothing. Synthohol's got pics somewhere of him using his pool as a reservoir.
Alphadog
How about sticking the cooler out side in the winter time lol. Its 29 out side here. Would that be cold enough lol.
nikonnut
"How about sticking the cooler out side in the winter time lol. Its 29 out side here. Would that be cold enough lol. " Ha! I actually thought about building a plenum that fit in my window, hooking aluminum dryer vent hose to it, and attaching it to the back of my H70 via a fan duct. That way I would be pulling outside air into the rad (6 deg. F tonight) without turning the room into a meat locker. I'm thinking that would get me a temp of 23 deg. C at full load and -6 deg. C at idle. LOTS of overhead plus its possible the interior of the case would still be sub-ambient (compared to the room) which would would be great for the rest of the components. The only concern would be condensation.

nickbaldwin86
I find it amazing that going below ambient temps you don't have a problem with condensation on the block, or have you checked? either way it is impressive imo

His setup looks like it a total mess. so you can overclock it like mad. Big deal, you have to change the water and add ice all the time. I guess it's fun for you but for me I like my system to fit nicely in my office so I can play games and watch movies. I'm not slamming you, I just think it's weird that someone finds that "fun". If it were me I'd be like, "Wow!! I did it!! Now what do i do with it?" Have fun with your wacky experiments Dr. Jekyll
