xcalibur
Greetings , Recently , I purchased a Corsair XMS DDR3 (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) RAM Kit and successfully installed it on my 2 Year old PC . This was an upgrade from my old DDR2 XMS2 DHX 2GB . I'm Using the Asus P5KC Motherboard , whereby it supports DDR2 and DDR3 , I have removed the old DDR2 Ram and Installed The new DDR3 In the designated Slots . Since my MoBo Supports 1333Mhz (max) for DDR3 , it is automatically clocked at that speed and everything was fine. I have Manually set the Ram voltage to 1.6V (With 1.5V (default ) , I encountered start up problems and errors in the POST) and the Timing to 9-9-9-24. The configuration is fine now , I am able to run all my applications and games successfully without any problems of crashing or etc. The problem that I'm facing is that , Whenever I Turn ON the PC , The system starts Up (Powers Up) , then after a second it Powers Down for 2-3 Sec then finally Powers up (Boots Up) and starts Windows without any glitches. My Question is why is it behaving as such ? Is it Harmful to my PC (Power Up -Power Down -Power Up). How Do I solve this Problem. Please Advice Thank You Very Much ..... jmaster18
Well I am facing the same problem.I also have P5KC.Whenever I overclcock my CPU I face this.By trying settings I saw that this is something that the motherboard does to load the BIOS settings that are not default. If you set everything to auto the boot will be normal, but this doesnt destroy your PC .It is normal.I was very scared when it first happened to me. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 24, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 24, 2011 That is normal for that MB, when using DDR3, I would suggest speaking with the MB manufacturer if you have more questions about that.
