steccanella
I have two kits of this type of memory on my computer. It used to work fine but all of a sudden it stopped working and will not boot. My motherboard is an ASUS M4A785D-M Pro and I have two kits of CM2X2048-8500C5D (4 modules in total). I have tested each module individually and the computer will not boot with two of them inserted. I have tested all four modules on the computer of a friend of mine and the same thing happens, the system will not boot with the same two modules. I have tried a different kit of memory on my computer and it boots normally. I believe my memory is faulty. I cannot run memtest because the system will not boot. What can I do next? Kandersen
Hmm, whats going on with these dominator modules? I have the exact same problem as steccanella. I had been running 2x2GB paired dominator modules in my workstation for a long time. Suddenly my computer in periods wouldn´t start up when pressing the on/off button. This got worse for each day, and after checking almost everything inside the computer, I came to the, unfortunatly wrong conclusion, that it had to be the my delovered Asus P5K deluxe motherboard. I bought a new motherboard, (Asus P5Q Turbo) and now I had the very same problem, except this one wouldn´t start up at all.. I then did an exchange of the memory, (which I didn´t do with the old motherboard, bad mistake!).. Now the computer started just fine. I then tested one dominator module - computer booted fine. cheking the other, computer wont start. Infact it doesnt do anything at all, no POST, no bibbing. The computer is just dead with this module installed. How is it possible for a computer to not start up at all with an defective module installed. That worries me quite a bit. Perhaps because I have never had any RAM problems before. And I have been building computers since 1988, and have always been pleased with Cosair. Greets Kim As soon as I get the time I will file an RMA, hoping Cosair may be able to find the reason for this problem, which seems like it´s an problem hitting others as well. Stevil79
I have posted about my kits on this board recently too. My kits both worked fine at the recommended setting for about 2 weeks and suddenly stopped working resetting the overclock on my mobo. I can now only get them to work on reduced settings and the board won't overclock at all any more. I've not tried them all individually but the original 2 I bought first used to work just fine. My thread: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=92553 I don't know how to get the power out of my system anymore :(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 3, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 3, 2011 There are no guarantees when mixing and matching modules together. Similar modules may or may not function properly in a particular system. To guarantee the best chances of compatibility you would want to use identical modules throughout the system. And if you do mix memory it is common to have to slow the memory down to DDR667 or DDR800.
