apcor
I was wondering if there was a PSU guru on here that might provide some insight as to what is going on. I have had serious trouble with RMA's and EVGA. I am not ruling out that something could be wrong with my system but I have had 6 GPU RMAs and and done some extensive testing and cannot find any solution. I have a thread running over on their forums which out lines the problem and has pics of my rig, multimeter tests, and other PSU tests. I am not really sure what to do. Would appreciate any feedback, and I apologize in advance if my tone is a bit angry but I have been though alot, and I am at the end of my proverbial rope. http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=708703&mpage=1#768364
Wired
Gotta agree with EVGA support, could be line ripples from the PSU or the PSU in general, or could be the motherboard. After the testing you did for them, you're pretty much down to swapping parts / RMAing parts.
apcor
But how do you explain the PSU test I did where I hooked up a 620Watt Corsair stand alone PSU to the graphics card. Are there ripples there too? Also how do you test the motherboard? I have run orthos tests and everything was fine. If you scroll down to the last post you will see new tests and pics. Wired
It still could be either item. Either you fully swap parts, e.g. put all of the items in the system on a different PSU, or you swap out the motherboard.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2011 If you would like to try having the PSU replaced, please Request an RMA.
apcor
Well I would appreciate your opinion on wether or not to do that. I have never had any problems with my power supply and this issue is very suspect. If you look at thread I posted another test where I was able to stress the card for half an hour without incident at reduced core clock speed of 500 mhz from the default of 602 mhz. Given the battery of tests I did (multimeter, hooking up dedictated power source to card) and now this test I feel the card is bad, but I seem to be in the minority on this issue. I would hate to RMA a perfectly good PSU, but since I trust your instincts regarding this matter if you recommend I do request an RMA I will do so.
