Han.net
Hi There, I want to build a PC for education purposes, and to use Virtualazation to run 7 PC having server 2008 R2. I have decided to go for the Asus motherboard M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880 and CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor . I was trying to find the right memory and got bit confused to choose the right one . I need 8GB and I have 2 choices unless if you advise otherwise . 1-Vengeance (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) http://www.corsair.com/memory-3/vengeance/vengeance2/vengeance-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz8gx3m2a1600c8.html 2-Corsair CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 Dominator 8GB http://www.corsair.com/memory-3/amd-memory-solutions/phenom-ii/cmp8gx3m2a1600c9.html when I try Memory Finder on Corsair , and choose AMD , I get the Dominator option not Vengeance one , eventhough its not clear for which purpose its used for . I m not sure which to choose and why . Can you please help with that .Also both dont support BEMP , would that be a problem ? Regards
Wired
Don't worry about not having BEMP, won't be an issue. Also, while CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 is in the configurator, it's not attached to any motherboards yet, hence why it's nto coming up. They'll function and perform identically. Only difference is the heat spreaders and the CMP will be able to connect to an Airflow Pro.
Han.net
Many thanks for that , I take it that I can choose any one of them ? and the only difference is the heat spreader ? Also the Dominator works on 1.65 whereas the Vengeance work on 1.5 . So shall I go with anyone of them ?? Regards
dash rendar
I've also just purchased the Dominator CMP8GX3M2A1600C9, though they haven't arrived yet. I had severe troubles getting 8GB working in my mobo previously when I had four modules, so I'm hoping I'll have a lot more luck with a pair instead. But I too was wondering whether it's an advantage that the Vengeance runs at 1.5V. I presume this would mean less heat and therefore more stability? Or is that completely wrong?! I've seen CMZ8GX3M2A1866C at a price less than I've just paid for the CMP8GX3M2A1600C9. Also, I read in the part breakdown that the 'P' in CMP means "Dominator with something extra". Could someone tell me what this "something extra" bit means? Thanks.
Wired
Airflow Pro / Corsair Link compatible. I'll update the FAQ soon.
dash rendar
Nice one, thanks. Also, any thoughts on whether 1.5V is preferable to 1.65? Also, for the same price, CMZ8GX3M2A1866C is rated quicker, but has slower CAS than CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 at 9-10-9-27 versus 9-9-9-24 for the Dominator. I'm such a noob!
