new and old memory.

I have part# CMX512-3200XL PC3200 (200Mhz)

I have had these in my computer for a few years and they work great.

Today I installed Part # VS512MB400c3 <--shows using cup-z. The packaged listed the memory as VS1GBKIT400G

The computer booted just fine and all appears to be working fine...

but I do have some questions..

Do I change the timings on the new and old to match?

my cpu-z shows the old memory JEDEC on #1 and # 2 slots at

200 MHz.

Cas to Latency- . 2.0

ras to cas - 2

ras to precharge -2

tRAS - ...........5

The new memory is showing two JEDEC's #1 and #2 for both slots 3 and 4

JEDEC # 1 shows 166 MHz and JEDEC # 2 shows 200 MHz

The timing for JEDEC #1 under 166 MHz is..

Cas to latenc ..........2.5

ras to cas ..............3

ras precharge .........3

tRAS ......................7

Timing for JEDEC #2 200 MHz is...

Cas to laten ............3.0

ras to cas ............3

ras to precharge .....3

tRAS ..................8

The voltage is all the same at 2.50.

I am running AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+

Motherboard = A8N-SLI Deluxe

Chipset = nVIDIA nForce4

I have the latest updated BIOS.

So...after all that, my question is how do I tweak my memory so it runs efficiently and at its peak?

and why do things seem slower????????

i wouldnt "change" the timmings , some memory works "as-is" , changing it means either overclocking or underclocking.

if you really want to make'm" match " , i strongly suggest under-clocking it.

you never know how the mainboard reacts to overclocking it.

on another note, i wouldnt bother tbh, mainboards now'a'days (most of them) can cope up with diferent timmings , as long as the banks arnt all full, and your not getting any BSODS's.

Run memtest86+ (check the forums on how-to use it )

Cheers!

EDIT:

oh ok , i just noticed ,you have all of the banks full , beware that running them at max speed and/or timmings , might kill your motherboard (in time)

even if you dont have any errors now , you might in the future .... trust me , its happening to me :\
