Baraka
I'm putting together a new high-end system for the first time in about 4 years, tbh I'm not yet fully up to speed with all this new fangled ssd stuff so please bare with me :o: I'm gonna be installing Win 7 64 on an ASUS Sabertooth X58 mobo using Corsair F120 ssd as the boot drive. My question is the mobo has: 6x SATA-II(3Gb/s) ports via the Intel ICH10R2x SATA-III(6Gb/s) ports via a Marvell 9128 controller2x eSATA-II(3Gb/s) ports via a JMicron JMB362 controller Which of these should I hook the Corsair ssd boot drive up to for best results? Would there be any advantage to using the SATA-III(6Gb/s) ports?
rhesuspieces
From what I've read the best performance and possibly best compatibility will come from the Intel ICH10R chipset. Make sure the BIOS talks to the drive in AHCI mode.
Weng
I'd disable the Marvell controller all along (unless you have more than 6 drives ofc) You'll gain about 9seconds in boot, it's the extra time it uses to initialize drives. The F120 probably can't utilize the full 3gb anyway, yet alone 6gb.
BlackMamba
Hi, The F120 is a sata II drive (3Gb/s) drive so installing it on a sata III port isn't going to improve anything. Also agree with the above poster's comments about disabling the items on the motherboard that won't be needed. This will improve startups. http://www.corsair.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=F120 Cheers
