tkout
Anyone know if they're going to release a Corsair PCIe SSD? Seems other vendors are making fast drives bypassing on board controllers. Just want to know if Corsair is going to explore that option as well.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 31, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 31, 2010 I am sorry but I cannot comment on Unreleased products, but as far as I know at this time there no plan to release any PCI-E based SSD products. tkout
The thing is this is starting to really get interest from me as AMD's SATA performance is lacking! Does anyone else have interest in a Corsair PCIe SSD solution?
Darkcyde
I would be interested in a PCIe based SSD from Corsair, although I don't have any problems with AMDs SATA3 performance. My speeds are at or above rated speeds for my Force GT.
tkout
I've just found on most reviews that the AMD SATA never really compared to the Intels. I'm really just looking for a way to squeeze more performance from my Corsair SSD.
jewie27
As my friend at Nvidia likes to say about their products, "I can't deny or confirm that information." LOL
tkout
@jewie27 - The question is would you want a PCIe SSD from Corsair! Well, would you?
parsec
PCI-E SSDs seem to have great potential, but are not without drawbacks. Many owners report not being able to use them as OS/boot drives, which is a mother board and BIOS issue. That can be fixed in some cases by adjusting the IRQ for the PCI-E slot, but that is not always possible. Next most if not all PCI-E SSDs are actually multiple SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration, which is what gives them their great performance. The RAID configuration generally means no TRIM is available to the device, and unless the manufacture states the device supports TRIM, it doesn't. If manufactures are not jumping all over this configuration, I can understand why.
