sunofcain
so i've got an asus p5p43td m/b loaded with 16Gb of the above mentioned RAM. the system is totally stable with 8GB (1 kit), but restarts randomly with 12GB or 16GB installed. have tried many timing settings and voltage to no avail. currently running 12Gb at XMP settings with less restarts than 16GB, but restarts nontheless... this memory is not on the QVL - actually there is no supported 4GB stick on the QVL, so i don't understand how it's able to support 16GB?? Wired
Could also be that you're mixing two kits together that haven't been tested together (not to mention that you're maxing out the slots and therefore placing more stress on the memory controller). Are they the same version number? How To Read the Memory Label Tried underclocking the memory to 1066 MHz?
sunofcain
all the memory is the same - all 16GB of it... was bought together on the same day - same version number (2-8GB kits). when running the full 16Gb, the system automatically tunes it to 1066, major restarts if i try to hard set it to 1333... read a thread today that recommends setting memory frequency to 266mhz for better compatibility. would you recommend this? sunofcain
my update for this problem today is that my system is now unstable with only 8GB loaded...
PusherRobot
Which motherboard do you have ? I'm having a similar problem.
sunofcain
motherboard is ASUS P5P43TD - about a half hour ago, i reset cmos (unplug computer, remove battery, reset cmos jumper on m/b) and inserted the full 16GB. the system is automatically dumbing down the memory to 1066 (it's supposed to run at 1333) and so far it's stable - will keep you updated
sunofcain
today's update is that resetting the cmos back to defaults seems to have fixed the problems... no bsod or restarts since!
