nam.uk
now i have disabled the above and the Psu is near silent (but placing ear at back i can still hear fluttering and electrical sounds) which maybe normal activatey, not sure. in fact a bit Paranoid since last Psu i.e Enermax DXX 1000:(:. does that mean this 850HX is safe to use or even powerful enough:confused:, theses Psu's are underrated power anyway, i thought this Psu is well beyond my needs. System GA-X58A-UD7 (24Phase 1.0), i7 920 D0,Dominator GT 6GB C7 airflow pro and fan, GTX 480, Corsair HX850W,Prelude XFI. 4hdd's, DVDrw, 5 fans,3 silverstone FM fans. nam.uk
You're fine. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85166 yea i seen that and posted on there as it solved the Straggled mouse noise, but still was not 100% mate. thing is i had it with no noise for at least 5 months with C1E and EIST enabled, thats why the confusion. is it the dropping cores and volts up and down that make the Wine due to fluctuation in volts that strain the Psu when C1E and EIST is enabled?. seems a massive issue on x58 i googled it last night, i was surprised never really thought of looking before. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2010 The power regulation on the motherboard is interacting with the the high efficiency components within the PSU and something somewhere is vibrating out of sync with the rest of the components. Something that the motherboard does when C1E or EIST is enabled causes the power components to get "noisy", but it seems to be most noticeable when using high efficiency PSUs. Does that mean the Mb is at issue i.e i need to replace it? or an issue with the 480gtx as this does downclock the core.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2010 It could technically be the PSU, graphics card or motherboard that has marginal power regulation circuitry. It would be best to test the components individually in a different system to narrow it down.

Not got a second system mate, what are we talking here something or nothing? even if i do source the issue, this could come back a few months down the line. i remember my 775 setup with a enermax 100dxx and i always thought it was the 280 slightly coil winning (which was normal noise at the time) but was the Psu, this went on for just under 2 years with no issues. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 28, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 28, 2010 The noise itself would not indicate anything functionally wrong with any of your components, or any increased risk of anything becoming damaged, its primarily an aesthetic issue. We can always try replacing the PSU, but without isolating the individual components to see where its coming from, its difficult to say whether replacing the PSU would resolve the problem.
