DeepPurple23
I currently have an i7 875K running Dominator-GT kit number CMT4GX3M2A2000C8. I am working on a new build and going to an i7 970. The 8xx series runs dual channel and the 9xx series runs tri channel. I get that part. What I don't know is if I could get another stick of the Dom-GT and the three 2GB sticks would then run tri-channel or if I need to get a whole new kit. I recently just installed the RAM and I'm hoping not to purchase a whole new set of memory as well as take a pounding on the sale of this kit. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks. DeepPurple23
Okay, so here's what I learned. I went out and purchased another kit of the Dom-GT 2X2Gbs 2000. So now I had four sticks of the ram. I then put three sticks on the EVGA X58 Classy 3 and fired up the computer. Everything is reporting as triple channel, the MB is suppose to only use 1600+, however, it's running at just under 2000 for me and I could go higher, it's just that this matches my OC better. So that's interesting that two kits (4X2Gbs 2000) with a total of 8 GBs are cheaper than one kit of 3X2GBs, total 6 GBs (1600). And it works great.
