Help! - Bought Bad RAM Stick (XMS2 4GB DDR2)

Hi.

On Dec 11 I bought the following kit from NCIX:

Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5C 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN Memory Kit

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=38282&vpn=TWIN2X4096-6400C5C&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1261

The exact # on the sticks is 10460849 (Rev 6.1).

One of the two sticks I received is bad.

It will not POST at all (PC freezes, using Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L).

The other stick will post OK.

If I use both sticks they do not post at all (freezes as with single bad stick).

I also have an older CM2X2048-6400C5 Rev 3.1 08315060-0 kit. If I use the bad stick with one from the old kit, I can boot, but Memtest x86 fails in less than 1 minute with thousands of errors. Note that the old ram alone or the good new stick pass OK.

I would like to RMA. The problem is that I bough the RAM because of your $20 rebate. The rebate states I *must* post within 21 days of purchase. i.e. Dec 11 2010 + 21 days.

How can I RMA without losing my $20 rebate?

Thank you.

Edit:

I have started an RMA (1813571). Can I mail my rebate now and return the broken RAM for replacement at the same time?

Thanks a lot!

No problem, and for the record this is by far the fastest customer response I've ever experienced, not even considering that's it's 2AM EST and practically Holidays.

:)

LOL....glad I could and give the correct answer for correct customer in the year 2010. And as Dead Things noted @ NCIX, I don't sleep much. Sorry you had an issue with the memory. We'll get you fixed up ASAP. ::pirate::
