jkma
The unit keep tripping the AFI circuit breaker for the last 11 months since day 1 either standalone or in a system. I have other systems that I built with PSU of other brands and a Dell without any issue with the breaker. I had to pay to send back the first unit for a replacement within the frist 2 weeks of purchase but the replacement is still having the same issue. The system is not overly loaded with an ASUS P7P55D-E MB, i5 750 CPU with a Corsait CPU cooler, 4 Gb Corsair Ram, 2 WD 640 HDD, 2 NEC DVD burners and ASUS 4670 1Gb video card in a NZXT Beta case with 3 fans. The issue is lessen but not completely gone with cutting power to the system (and the PSU) for a few seconds before turning the system on. It seems that the capacitors in the batch or at least the two I got are not working properly.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 16, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 16, 2010 If multiple PSUs are giving you similar problems, then its possible that some other devices that are connected to the same circuit are contributing to tripping the breaker. If possible I would hook the system up to a different circuit in your home and see if you can still duplicate the same problems. If all else fails then we can certainly get the PSU replaced, Request an RMA.
jkma
I have tried to connect to different circuits in the house to see if the problem exists. It does. The problem exists with the PSU in the system or plugged in by itself to the wall socket. This is already a replacement PSU. Currently, I have the PC on a separate surge protector to try to isolate from the rest of the devices. Would it be a grounding issue with the unit? How can I check if the grounding of the unit is working or not? Please advise. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2010 There is no easy way to test the grounding unless you have another PSU that you could test in the system. You may also want to test it in a different place altogether just to rule out an issue with the power distribution in your home.
