Looking for an alternative set of 2 fans for push-pull on the H50 in A900 case?

Hey everyone.

I am ready to initiate and work on my system again, finally utilizing the Corsair H50 I bought a few months back.

I originally wanted to use the AP-15 fans and get two of them after hearing about rave reviews and user experiences. However, it seems they're always out of stock.

I did not want to wait any more, so I want to purchase two good fans, alternative to AP-15, that are easy to install (as I've never installed an aftermarket cooler before, let alone, a semi-liquid cooler like the H50), reliable, not that expensive, etc.

Anyone know of any two alternative fans I can use for push-pull with the H50 that would work with my A900 case? Or, I could try using the current H50 fan (that Corsair provides) and my rear A900 tricool fan (since it will need to go out anyway).. but they're obviously different speeds, and I wanted to maintain a same-speed same-fan configuration (from what I've heard, is best).

Thanks!

Hey Kabigon,

For both the H50 and H70....replace the stock fans that come with the cooling unit with Noctua 120 mm cooling fans....I found models NF-S12B and NF-P12 both for around $25 each on Newegg....also read quite a few reviews about them on the internet....they are some of the quietest fans you can buy that actually move air and can be controlled by BIOS settings....

Hope this helps...

Do you know of any relatively cheaper fans? I was trying to find two fans for less than $30 shipped or so.

The AP-15's, although out of stock right now, are estimating to be close to $40-50 for both after they become available in stock (who knows when).

I know what I've read is that a 120x120x38 fan is superior to the 25mm... specifically the scythe kazy extreme 2000rpm version. It quite nicely balances the air movement with silence...

With that being said, I'm currently using the Noctua NF-P12 as a push pull into my HAF-X, recently clocked up with stability to 4.32 (finally, after months of balancing) and it sits pretty comfortably on my hardest WU (2684 for you folders out there) at <60C.

I'm still looking to upgrade the fans- mostly out of curiousity and experimentation- and apparently they're cheap like borsch (10 bucks a pop).

Let us know how you make out!

  • 3 weeks later...

I replaced my stock fan with 2 x Noctua NFP12 (another vote for them then)

Have had no issues with them at all and they run whisper quiet and keep the system cool.

Easy to fit and maintain (dust)

Not sure what they work out to in $US, but they cost me £36 for the pair
