pauldawg
RAM Guy, I have a Sony VPC-CW19FX with 4GB DDR3 and am looking to upgrade to 8GB. What is compatible? I noticed there is a 1333 and 1066 available. Do they both work? Best, Paul
Yellowbeard
With a VAIO, I'd definitely suggest buying the same spec that the unit originally comes with. Isn't your existing memory 1066?
pauldawg
makes sense, but I don't know how to check....
Yellowbeard
Download and check it with CPU-Z. Or, open the memory cover and read the sticker on the current module.
pauldawg
Yellow Beard, Wow, thanks for the help! CPU-Z says I have a DDR3 PC3-8500F 533MHz (x2 = 1066?) from Hyundai. Would the 1333 be faster or just not work at all? None of the JEDEC #1,2,3 in the timings table look like a 1333. Thanks for your time.
Wired
Check the memory tab, not the SPD tab. Also, there is no guarantee that your laptop can handle faster memory.
pauldawg
Memory tab says DDR3, Dual Channel #, Symmetric DC Mode, 532.5MHz DRAM Frequency. 1:2 7 7 7
Wired
532.5x2 = 1065 MHz.
