breeza
Hi, Anyone know if the new Vengeance modules are compatible with the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 cooler in 1155/1156 boards or are the heat spreaders too tall?
sblantipodi
Hi, do you know if Corsair Vengeance may have some compatibility problem with the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 heatsink? Vengeance heatsink is tall, do you think that I will have problem with the noctua heatsink?

Wired
Good point, merged threads :) Hopefully someone out there has an answer. I've put in a request for the physical dimensions to be added to the website.
sirkillalot
Vortez.co.uk did a review of the vengeance memory and I found this interesting. Not a new 1155 sandy bridge motherboard but maybe it is comparable? http://www.vortez.co.uk/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=5779 Quote from review: From the very bottom to absolute top the Vengeance measure just over in 5cm height. So the heatsinks here are giving an additional 2cm to the height of a standard set of DDR3 modules. This may cause compatibility issues with some CPU coolers, but with the configuration I used -ASUS Rampage III Formula and Thermalright Venomous X Black I had no problems with using either of the triple channel lanes available. Here is some memory compatibility info about the Venemous X Black cooler used in their review http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/cpu/venomous-x/memory_compatibly.html Venomous X black measures : Length 127mm x Width 63mm x Height 160mm Without fan Notcua NH-U12P measures: Lenght 126mm x Width 71mm (w/fans 120mm) x Height 158mm
sblantipodi
noctua height is 40mm, so vengeange is 10mm over the maximum height.
DavidNJ
Is that the fin height or the fan height...that is, do the fins touch or just the fan?
garyrh
Ok I just bought a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 heatsink for my Asus P67 Sabertooth and I have 8gigs of Cosair Vengeance memory. It will fit but you cannot use the first memory slot on the board because the fan is blocking it. One thing you can do if have four memory modules is to raise the fan above the heat spreader which you can do with the Noctua. So if you have two modules just use bank A2 and B2 and you will have no problems with this heatsink. Hope this helps.
A2look4Parts
This issue has been vexing me (aspiring first time DYO PC builder) while deciding what to buy... Vortez.co.uk did a review of the vengeance memory and I found this interesting. Not a new 1155 sandy bridge motherboard but maybe it is comparable? According to Intel documentation (page 52) the PCB footprint of LGA 1366 is 104x104 millimeters. LGA 1155 footprint (page 106), however, is only 95x95mm. So they are only comparable if, say, the 1155 motherboard maker left the DIMM sockets and the center of CPU package where were on 1366. Which, by the way, seems to be the case with ASUS P67 models (gap of about 4-5mm between edge of CPU package drawing and DIMM socket), but not with Gigabyte... Quote from review: From the very bottom to absolute top the Vengeance measure just over in 5cm height. This newb is mistrustful... The distance from the center of CPU package to its right edge is 52 mm on 1366. The DIMM socket on Rampage III Formula is placed almost right at the edge (on this pic). The width of Venomous X is 63 mm and it is built symmetrically. Add 1 mm if one puts some kind of rubber between cooler and fan casing. So half of that is 32 mm; add to that 25 mm of fan seen on his pic - that's 57mm. The fan ought to extend over at least part of first DIMM socket and Vengeance can't fit under it, right? Or am I missing something..? If one would put one of those Slimline 120x20mm or 140mm fans on it, however... then Venomous X might fit in on ASUS P67, but it would still be very close. Thermalright Archon with the width of 53mm might just fit with 25mm fan, but is both about 10mm taller and much deeper (can cover 1st PCIe slot?). Decisions, decisions... :) This forum is a tremendous resource - it has saved me money, disappointment and hassle even before I have bought anything Corsair. Thank you very much, and keep up the good work!

Is it possible to show a picture of what you did with the cooler? I'm going to install Vengence CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B on a sabertooth x79. I'm not sure if i will be able to install even moving the coolers(i have two) from the heatsink.
garyrh
Well being I have a P67 Sabertooth and you having X79 would make a difference. When I posted this I had two 4 gig modules and used slot two and four which would clear the cooler. I bought 16 gig of the Low Profile Corsair Vengence which are four 4 gig modules and the cooler clears the memory in first slot. The P67 is dual channel and the X79 is Quad channel so the spacing would be different.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 18, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 18, 2012 The vengeance modules "CMZ" will all be about 2.25-2.38" Tall and with coolers like this you me be better off using our low profile sets that will be "CML" and these modules are about 1.25-1.38" tall. You can raise the fan on the noctua to clear the heatsink but I bought Low Profile modules. The pictures do not show a Noctua so that will make a difference. monge
Well Here is the pictures after installing it. Offtopic: my mobo doesn't like to overclock those rams :(( Best Regards.
