Hi All

I have a custom built gaming pc that is overclocked to 4.0gb with 6gb of corsair ram, i am having endless lock up with my game application which may be due to incorrect memory settings :( after i discovered in my bios a big red warning message " overclock failure " my machine is still in warranty and i could return it to the makers tho they have not been so great with warranty repairs.

A friend suggest posting here as you guys may know the correct settings i should use for my rams timings and voltages etc, with the help of a fellow techy i have lowerd the cpu overclock to 3.05gb and tried various settings for ram timings and voltage as close to what is written on the ram as the bios will allow ,and then ran my game app wich still locks up or crashes to desktop my OS runs fine tho.

Any help with this would be great.

The normal CMX6GX3M3A1600C9 settings are 9-9-9-24 2T @ 1600 MHz. @ 1.65 V which should be listed on the DIMM module label.

Intel i7-9xx series CPUs only officially support 1066 MHz. RAM but most people are able to run the RAM overclocked though there are no guarantees when it comes to overclocking - per my signature. You may need to manually adjust your BIOS settings to try and find the best combination for OC'ing the CPU/RAM as each CPU/mobo is different.

This link may be of help?

Thank you for the feedback ,i will try various settings with the app and see if it is stable (fingers crossed) i did note the default settings on the side of the ram those were in place when it failed the preset overclock, the game application locked up even with default memory setting ie 1066mhz .

It is not suprised the maker of my pc is trying to run a mobo+ram combo that doesnt actually match ie 1066mhz for ram rather than actually support 1600 mhz sigh!!.

I would rather not be tinkering in the bios and doing my own overclocking but seems trial and error may be preferable to the idiots in system support playing with it again, the BIOS has a optimized default setting would this be ok to try?.

Unfortunately i am unemployed and broke so a ram or parts upgrade of any kind is a no no.
