Hi

I purchased this ram along with a Phenom ii 955 black edition and a Asus crosshair iii board. I am unable to run a stable system when I use BEMP with AMD overdrive and run the memory at 1600mhz. The system will suffer a BSOD and restart after a memory test or while playing a game. If I run the ram slower say 1500 its stable. Please help

Welcome.

Your AMD CPU is only guaranteed to run RAM up to 1333 MHz. Anything beyond that is overclocking and there are no guarantees in overclocking per my signature. Just because the RAM has been tested to run stable @ 1600 MHz. does not mean that your CPU/Mobo/RAM/Vid card will all play nice @ 1600 MHz. BMEP and AMD overdrive may not work as well as manually setting the BIOS options?

If you fill out your PC specs it makes it easier for people to help you.

You can try upping the CPU-NB / VDDNB voltage to 1.26 V. You can also try 9-9-9-24 2T @ 1600 MHz. @ 1.65 V.

Ok ran a short cpu/mem test after increasing my NB voltage slightly... It now seems stable at 1600mhz. I just assumed you wouldnt need to run more voltage when you increase memory frequency. n00b!

Ok i've been putting memory timings in the bios and have the cas set to 7, some of the others set to 7 but what does 7-7-7-20 timings actually refer to in the bios and what should I set the other timings to, I can't seem to find anything on the net.

Excellent, got my system running how I wanted it.

Not a major overclock but the CPU is running at 3.6 Gb with standard voltage. That will do for a while until I fancy really pushing it.

NB is now 2600 and HTT is 2600 completely stable NB voltage on 1.25volts

Memory is running 1600Mhz 7-7-7-20 timings stable

Cheers for your help
