kenparsons
I purchased the TX650w PSU about 8 months ago. The last couple of days I have been receiving random restarts and freezes within the first 5 minutes of booting. I have done diagnostic tests on the PSU, Hard drive, and ram; I only found one problem which was with the PSU. On the 3.3v rail I have been getting 1.79 so the power is not constant. Any ideas of what I can do to fix this? Thank you Ken
Wired
HOW are you testing the voltage?
kenparsons
Using a program called Speed fan.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2010 I would generally not trust voltage readings from software as they can be very inaccurate. The BIOS can be equally inaccurate, but you might check the BIOS reading to see if it matches up with what you are getting with speed fan. I would also try using some other software, just to see if you are at least getting consistent results. If you are able to rule out some of the other common causes for random shut downs like memory and software issues, then go ahead and Request an RMA and we can get the unit replaced for you. kenparsons
I have ruled out my Ram and hard drive. I have also formatted and reinstalled my OS. While I'm waiting for RMA I'm going to try and get my hands on another PSU to confirm if it is my PSU or not. What other software would you recommend to test my Voltage? Wired
No software is really reliable. Get a volt meter.
kenparsons
Ok I tested two connectors with a Volt Meter and I was able to find my 5V and my 12V. But it would not pick up the 3v Rail. I assume this tells me that is my problem.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2010 The only place to measure the 3.3v rail would be on the 24-pin connector. If you tested it correctly and got no reading at all then lets get the PSU replaced! Here is a guide to help with testing the PSU, just in case: http://www.ochardware.com/articles/psuvolt/psuvolt.html Request an RMA
