playboysmoov
When I originally built my rig in June of this year I decide to use Corsairs CMX4GX3M2A1600C9. So far every thing has been going great so I decided to pickup another set so I can have a total of 8 GB and see what Windows 7 x64 has to offer. Prior to buying my additional kit I read up on yellowbeard's post about how to upgrade ram and etc. The thing that that stands out to me is my original kit has a version number of 5.2 and my new kit has a version number of 2.3. Are these kits compatible or will this pose a problem?
Wired
They use different ICs, and even if they were the same version number there's no guarantee they'd work together.
playboysmoov
so I am confused as to how two kits could be of the same model number but different version numbers. So which is better the one with higher version number? I almost feel as if I have wasted my dough as I don't know if they are compatible based upon yellowbeard's guide. Wired
There is absolutely no way to guarantee that ANY two kits would be compatible with each other, regardless of version number. They NEED to be tested together to guarantee that. No, a higher or lower version number does not indicate which one is better, as they all meet the same specs. Version # = IC manufacturer used.
