davidhlin
I just purchased a pair of VS1GB400C3/EU. When I ran CPU-Z, in the SPD tab I found the CAS @ 200MHz is 3.0-4-4-8 instead of the advertised 3.0-3-3-8. My question is "is this a new CAS timing for this module?" I think it's highly unlikely that they are counterfeits or someone altered the SPD on these 2 modules. Should I go back to the vendor get new replacements? Last thing I want to do is to use the spdtool to edit these values to 3.0-3-3-8. Any suggestions welcomed. The system (HP m1180m) is running fine with this pair along with another pair with CAS of 3.0-3-3-8. Thanks.
Wired
If they're already running at 3-3-3-8 (see the CPU-Z memory tab), I wouldn't worry about it.
davidhlin
On CPU-Z, memory tab has the CAS timing greyed out on my system, but Memtest86 does show 3-4-4-8 while running the test. I know it probably make that much of a difference, but very curious why my modules show 3-4-4-8 instead of 3-3-3-8. Since I was running at 3-3-3-8 before the upgrade, very tempting to exchange for a different pair just to see if they show the same result. Wired
What do the timings on the memory label say? Also, can you post a pic of the memory tab? Never seen CAS timing grayed out.
davidhlin
There is no timing on the memory label, but the Corsair web site stated 3-3-3-8 for VS1GB400C3. So something is fishy. Image captures of CPU-Z Memory and SPD tabs attached. This is a 5-year old HP m1180m system.
davidhlin
Here is the SPD for my VS1GB400C3/EU. Notice the misspelling on the part number - VSVGB400C3 instead of VS1GB400C3, and the different timing - 48-28-48-28-80. Can someone post his SPD for their VS1GB400C3? Tech Tweaker
For the person who asked for someone to post their SPD settings, I have attached an image of my own SPD settings on my VS1GB400C3 stick in CPU-Z's SPD tab.
