HBAndrew
Hi guys, got my current system late 2008 and been pretty happy with it not had any real need to tweak, but been getting that contagious itch to upgrade with more recent games being a little sluggish so sorting out my settings and overclocking to tide me over until next year. Currently got TWINCM2X2048-6400C4DHX set to dual channel, and my Asus board has the timings automatically set to 5-5-5-18 ~400Mhz, and I wish to get them at least to their designed timings of 4-4-4-12 800Mhz. I have found a thread for the CM2X4096 modules listing settings and wonder if these settings would be correct for my setup leaving every other setting at their default? AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 200MHz DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 800MHz PCI Express Freq: Auto PCI Freq: 33.33 Performance Mode: Standard DRAM Timing Selectable: Manual SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T SDRAM Write Recovery Time: 5 Write to Precharge Delay: 15 (If its Listed) Command Rate: 2T DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 2.1 CPU Core Voltage: Auto FSB Termination V: 1.50 V MCH Chipset V: 1.65V ICH Chipset V: 1.20V All other settings are motherboard defaults. Maximum DDR2 recommended VDIMM: 2.1 Volts I am honestly not certain if every one of these settings is available on my Asus BIOS (I assume most Asus have identical BIOS?), but if I go into my BIOS and enter all these settings for my memory, should I be ok? I am also running my Q6600 at 3.0ghz (will lower back to 2.4 for ram testing) and plan on getting it as close to 4.0 as I can since I now have an H50 on it. Not sure if that has to be taken into consideration or not, been a very long time since I seriously overclocked. Thanks
raven49
AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual Yes, if you can't manually set DRAM Clock. DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 800MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T Command Rate: 2T Should be correct. DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 2.1 Set to what ever is on module label. I am also running my Q6600 at 3.0ghz (will lower back to 2.4 for ram testing) and plan on getting it as close to 4.0 as I can since I now have an H50 on it. Not sure if that has to be taken into consideration or not, been a very long time since I seriously overclocked. If you're going to O.C. these timings may become too tight and have to be changed. Thanks Your welcome!
vinark
MCH is way to high for a P45 chipset first try 0.1V over default. The p35 and earlier had those voltages but were of bigger die size (90nm vs 65nm I think) 4.0 might be a little (or a lot) to high. better think 3.2 to 3.6. Try 400FSB and 8 multiplier if you get it stable try 9X. Remember that the P5Q overvolts a lot and voltages on auto when overclocking are much to high! Do some reading at X treme systems on P5Q (and P5Q premium)
