hyperhuman
Hi All, Sorry to open a new thread rather than posting comments on other threads talking about similiar issues, i want this to take as much visibility as possible in order to put pressure on corsair to act. I'm on my third GTR 64 GB, I paid £190 for it first time and I was mocked at by all friends and family for *wasting* my money on something that can be bought for less from other brands. Ofcourse the performance of the GTR was the main reason why I partied with my hard earned cash. On three occasions after light usage of a couple of weeks the stick would stop working and simply stay blinking that blue light. I lost my data three times so far and the best corsair can do is to do RMA, well it's no good having a usb key that is very unreliable, especially this size. What's the point in doing RMA again now if the next stick will be the same, how would I risk my data again with an unfinished product that is only ruining the corsair name. I've been using the Voyager part of the USB keys for many years and never had a problem. Please Corsair, we are your customers have some transparency and tell us the facts and above all put in a process to regain some of your customer's satisfaction. What should I do now? HDless
I'm in a similar boat, I'm on my 4th (GTR 32GB) stick now after the same blinking thingy, as I've already mentioned elsewhere here. I've lost important data too so I feel your pain. Corsair are aware, and know what the problem is, a firmware issue (or something that can be fixed with a firmware update), and they have a fix in the works. No ETA yet, but they say it should be "soon". It sound like it's going through final stages of testing. Check this post. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showpost.php?p=476478&postcount=
mtahearn
hyperhuman, there is nothing you can do except RMA it. as you say, there are many users, on many threads, with many issues with this product range. I too am one. up to my 3rd. at least they keep getting cheaper each time i buy one. as to the corsair name - it doesn't matter how many good things someone does. they could do 9 things really well but it'll be that one thing they do bad that everyone will remember!. what bugs me is how the range made it out of quality control or user testing. with so many people reporting this problem within weeks, sometimes days, of light use. it's staggering this wasn't picked up before retail release. PIOE
I am thankful for your attention, but I use Linux and Mac systems. Neither of these systems will run the firmware upgrade for my two Survivor GTR's. How am I to update from a Linux or Mac computer?

PIOE
Can you use another system to update the drive? Or, perhaps run a Windows live CD? I have no Windows software at home or here at work, we use all Linux because then we can install new hard drives and components whenever we want. With Windows that is not possible because of Product Activation and we do not want our computers to be dependent on the availability of an activation service in order to be used. Is Windows necessary for this firmware update? If that is the case, it will probably be possible to ask the shop where the Surivivor GRS's were bought for assistance. Wired
It's a windows exe, so yes, windows OS is needed to run it. A windows emulator or boot CD may work, but I highly doubt it's something they tested it on.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2010 I would try and find a Windows Live CD search for it in Google or see if a friend can help you.
PIOE
Yellowbeard and RAM GUY: Thank you for your replies; I now understand that I have to go back to the shop where I bought the GTR's, I assume they will help me there by updating my sticks on their machine. benamaster
I wouldn't hold out my hope that the firmware will fix the issues. I just recieved my 64GB Survivor GTR from amazon.com on Friday 12/3 and I updated the firmware today on 12/6 after reading the forums. I was having no issues with the drive but I wanted to be able to rely on the drive and not worry about losing data so I updated. After updated the drive was next to useless. I updated on a Windows XP Lenovo T61. Whenever trying to copy files after the update it would hang after copying just a few. I then decided to try my Windows 7 Desktop to re do the update but came out with the same results. Now my drive works for about 1min when I plug it in but then after I try to copy or read I get a continuous blinking blue light. This is terrible that I am having issues with a brand new flash drive. I can go buy a SanDisk for $4.99 and have 0 issues with it. This situation needs to be fixed ASAP or else the drive will be returned and I will never use another Corsair product again. I own a total of 32GB of Dominator GT DDR3, a 800D Case, a H50 and recommend Corsair products to everyone I know.

hyperhuman
Hi All Sorry for reviving an old thread, I want to signify the context. My 64 gb gtr only worked briefly after updating the firmware and then had the same blinking issue again. Trying to reupdate the firmware doesn't work stating "Rescue Failed" This usb stick has been sitting in my drawer for so long and everytime I see it I feel the pain of paying stupid money for a prodcut that doesn't work. Since then i've been using my no-brand cheap ebay stick that never failed. Is there anything I can do to claim some of of the lost value I put on this? can corsair refund me or replace it with a product that works? It's a pity I have to throw it in the bin. Needless to say that I will never come close to any corsair product again. Regards
