Swiso
Hello, I have a question about the Dominator GT heatsink. I have the Noctua CPU Cooler NH-D14 and to mount it I should remove the heatsink of the CMT6GX3M3A1600C7 modules that I have. It is a problem if I remove the heatsinks ? Should I expect problems ? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks ! Best regards AA
Yellowbeard
If you mean the top cooling fin, no problem, SEE HERE. But, do not try to remove the actual heat sinks. It will void the warranty and very likely destroy the module in the process.
Swiso
Hello, Yes, only the top fins. As suggested on the Noctua website : http://www.noctua.at/images/faqs/nh_d14_dominator_ddr3.jpg So, there is no problem in doing this, right ? Thanks ! Wired
As per Yellowbeard and the link he provided by Ram Guy, yes, there's no problem removing the tops of the heat spreaders.
