John305 Posted December 2, 2010 Share Posted December 2, 2010 Hi I want to upgrade my ram to 8 gig ddr3 and would like to know what would work in this msi p45-8d motherboard I did not see it listed in the ram chart on here. What im not sure of is what kind of ram to use that will run in dual channel mode that i can oc to 1600. I see there is triple channel ram now which I know wont work. Im not looking for high performance really just good ram that will last with no errors like my old xms stuff thats still running in a system. trackrat Posted December 4, 2010 Share Posted December 4, 2010 The CMX8GX3M2A2000C9 is both AMD and Intel rated compatible and tested to run at 2000 MHz. so yes it should be excellent RAM for your application. As Wired noted you will need to manually set your BIOS options but it's likely that your PC will be able to run the RAM OC'd to 1600 MHz. though there are no guarantees in overclocking - per my signature.
