MirrorLake
I've got a Dell (I'm not really proud of that, but I got a great deal on this system)... and I'm wondering if the CMPSU-650TX is compatible with my computer? I hope I don't come off sounding like an idiot here, but this is the first time I've ever replaced a part in my computer and I'd much rather get it right the first time. Have you had any complaints about Corsair power supplies not fitting into the Dell XPS 9000 case? More importantly, is the CMPSU-650TX compatible with the stock parts that come in an XPS 9000? How can I go about determining whether or not it is compatible with all the components in my computer and my new graphics card? I'm making a pretty huge investment buying a graphics card and this PSU, and I don't want to have to make any returns or damage my computer. Thank you! Wired
Talk with Dell and make sure their case / motherboard is compatible with ATX 2.01 PSUs both in size and electrical design.
MirrorLake
Thank you! To anyone else who reads this: What other questions/compatibility issues can I research before I make my purchase? I don't quite have the technical vocabulary to ask the right questions, so I really need any help I can get. The only thing I know for sure is that my new graphics card requires at least 38 amps on the +12V Rail.
MirrorLake
Just to close this thread, the CMPSU-650TX is "sort of" compatible with the Dell XPS 9000 case. Only two out of the four screws line up--they seem to hold the weight just fine, though. Otherwise, the 650TX fits perfectly and the installation went well. Yellowbeard
If you are concerned about only using 2 screws, you could always drill 2 more holes in the case.
