John Hixson
I have been otherwise successfully using a 6GB set of DDR3-1600 on a Rampage III Extreme in my new build for several weeks now but I haven't been doing any overclocking. Before going into that I wanted to be sure the memory was OK; so: When I run MemTest Pro 4.0 on a group of 3 (x2GB ea) Corsair Dominator GT DDR3-1600 (CMT6GX3M3A1600C7) memory sticks, I get errors on one or both of the Unused and Remaining RAM tests. I've run it several times and gotten errors each time. I then tried running MemTest64 Deluxe on individual sticks and individual slots (ASUS Rampage III Extreme). On these secondary tests all three sticks individually ran >1000% error free. Running a tested-good stick in each of three individual slots gave error-free results for >1000% testing on all slots. These sticks are rated 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 at 1.65volts and I am not running them above these specs. So what's going on here? What should I do next to prove that this 6GB set of RAM is either good or bad? Thank you for your advice. John Hixson P.S. I also ran these questions by the MemTest Support (email) just to cover as many bases as possible. John Hixson

When using some memory tests on ASUS boards, you need to disable Legacy USB Support temporarily as it conflicts with this test.
John Hixson
Thanks for your response. I proceeded to test a second set of three sticks and got the same results with MemTest64 Deluxe; no errors sticks or slots. I then put all 6 sticks in and ran MemTest64 Deluxe for 100% coverage (it took a looong time); again no errors. I did not change any BIOS RAM settings for this test and I left legacy USB in Auto. I then went back and ran MemTest Pro overnight with all sicks installed. This time I got no errors for >350% coverage. I'm going to assume that all these RAM stick are good. Thank you for your help. Wired
If you trust those software packages then you should be all set to go, HOWEVER, neither of those are what Corsair recommends. They only recommend Memtest86+'s latest version, which is currently 4.10.
John Hixson
OK, why didn't you say so from the beginning. I had no idea that Memtest86+ was the ONLY memory test recommended by Corsair. I was having anomolies with MemTest Pro and simply assumed that those on this forum would be familiar with that test too. I was wrong. So I downloaded and ran Memtest84+ for several passes on my system and got no errors. Thus I can assume that this Corsair memory is GOOD. Thanks for all your help.
